Cammie

I lay back in bed with Zach that night, he pulled me in to his arms and kissed my cheek, “I trust your judgement Cam,” He murmured, “Even if I get overprotective, I trust you.”

I rolled over to face him and sighed, at least he knew he was overprotective. I smiled and brushed my hand over my belly, Zach smirked and kissed my head, “When do you want to do a test?”

“Tomorrow,” I told him confidently, “I think.”

Zach laughed and kissed my cheek, “If you are, it’ll be in the same year as your half sibling.”

I smiled and closed my eyes, drifting off to sleep with that thought in my head.

The next afternoon I walked up to my mom’s office with a tight grip on Zach’s hand. Just before we got there he pulled me back and stroked my cheek, “Calm down,”

I took a breath and looked to the door, before I could nod I noticed Joe over Zach’s shoulder. He came over to us and frowned, “What’s up?”

I rolled my eyes, of course he knew something was up.

“Rachel’s office,” Zach told him when I didn’t respond.

Joe glanced to me and nodded, stepping past us and leading the way to Mom’s office. He knocked once and stepped in. Mom looked up from the papers she was flicking through and smiled, “What are you two doing here?”

I glanced to Zach, “We needed to talk to you,”

Mom pushed her chair back and stood up, her bump now becoming slightly more noticeable under her tight fitting blouse, “We wanted to talk to you too,” She glanced to Joe, “I think.”

Joe nodded once and smiled to her, he reached in to his jacket pocket and took out one of the two white envelopes there, “It came through this morning,” He told her with a smile and passed her the envelope. Mom took it and opened it, her grin fading just a touch as she scanned over the letter, “Oh,” She looked up to Joe, “I was talking about …”

He laughed and took out the other envelope, “I know you were.”

Mom gasped, “You mean they’ve both gone through!?”

Joe nodded with a grin, “Yep.”

Mom laughed and ran over to him, throwing her arms around him, “That’s brilliant!”

“What went through?” I queried, looking between them.

Mom and Joe pulled apart and smiled at us, “We’ve bought one of the houses in town, we were waiting for all the paperwork to go through to get a shortcut to here put in,” She explained with a grin before looking back up to Joe. He smiled and looked to us, “I’ve been working on the CIA for a while to shut down the original Blackthorne and reopen another closer to here, about an hour drive away,” He held up the first of the two envelopes, “This is their agreement to the proposal,”

I smiled and laughed in disbelief, “That’s brilliant,” I looked up to Zach and added, “And quite possibly perfect timing?”

Zach smirked and looked up, “You don’t suppose you’d have a space on the entry lists for say, twelve years time?”

For the first time ever I saw Joe Solomon confused, not understanding the question. I bit my lip and smiled as Mom shook her head, “What do you mean?”
