Zach
Cammie was shot. She was on the floor. I couldn’t help her. I thought as I rolled about in the back of the van I’d been thrown in to. What if nobody finds her before it’s too late? What if she … I stopped myself from thinking, the ache too much to bear with merely the idea of what could have happened to her, the girl I loved.
I closed my eyes and imagined I was with her, somewhere safe, just us.
I was jolted away from my thoughts as the van stopped and doors opened,
“Goode,” Someone snapped, “Come with me.”
I was pulled up and half dragged to a cell like room. Okay, maybe more of a dungeon, you know those ones in Robin Hood, with the skeleton chained to the wall by its wrists? Well, today, I was the skeleton.
I was left alone to think / worry, the same thoughts going around in my head about Cammie.
What was worse was that I knew who the woman was, Nat Tracy, long before I was even born she’d tricked Joe in to having a relationship with her. We’d met briefly when he was on the run and even then I could see he hated her … now I think there would be something a little stronger than hate showing when he found her, or me, or us.
Us was most likely.
Us became even more likely when the door opened and the devil herself stepped in.
“Zachary.” She greeted me like an old friend.
“What do you want?” I glared at her, being hostile probably wasn’t going to help my situation but what did I have to loose?
“I just want Catherine’s heir.” She shrugged.
“You’re not getting one,” I growled, “Not now or ever!”
“We’ll see if you still say that when I’ve finished with you.” She smiled at me.
“The answer will never change.” I breathed, “Don’t you get that?”
She walked over to me and stood against me, pressing her chest in to mine as she leant in to my ear,
“A lot of things can change a persons mind,” Her breath ticked my ear in the cold air, “Especially pain.”
“I have five words for you,” I growled, half wondering why she had reached in to her pocket, “I have nothing to loose.”
“Oh really?” She smiled and pressed something to my stomach.
The next thing I knew I was tensing up as electricity surged through me and up to the metal shackles around my wrists. I probably cried out. She probably saw how much pain I was in. But I didn’t care. Not any more.

I woke up the next morning still chained to the wall, not that I was surprised or anything. My muscles ached from being tasered the day before, but I had no way to rest them or get relief for them.
I refused to give in to her.
I was hungry, thirsty and exhausted. I had a feeling I wouldn’t last long if Nat paid me another visit today for the same reasons as yesterday.
I held back a groan as she came in and strode over to me. One of her perfectly manicured hands wrapped around the back of my neck and he other rested on my chest as she leant in to my ear, “I could show you what you’re missing Zach.”
