Chapter 64

ABBY

When Joe left I passed my sister Kim to hold (Mostly so she didn’t turn on me) before asking, “Are you going to tell them?”

“Why should I?” Rachel mumbled, “It was fine the way it was,”

“But Cammie knows now!” I exclaimed.

“Not that she cares,” Rachel didn’t look at me when she spoke.

“Oh come on,” I rolled my eyes, “You told her just after her dad had suggested she have an abortion,” Rachel glanced up, realisation on her features, “She will care Rachel,” I sighed, “She just needs time to realise!”

“Yeah,” Rachel sniffed as tears broke out of her eyes.

“Come on sis,” I wrapped my arms around her the best I could, “It’s okay,”

We both looked up as the phone on Rachel’s desk rang, short and shrill. Rachel was already up and across the room answering it, “Hello? … Sir … Sorry James,” That was Cam and Zach’s head at the CIA, I shuddered as I remembered who else he was in charge of and got up to take Kim. Rachel requested to put him on speakerphone so i was in on the conversation, “I’ve tried to get hold of Zach but he isn’t answering,”

“They’re at a party,” Rachel glanced to me, “Taking their chance to be kids,”

“Very well,”

“Whats the score?” I asked him.

“Catherine has escaped,” My blood ran cold at his words, she was out there.

“By what means?” Rachel’s voice was half angry half ‘if you say leaks I’ll say I told you so’

“A woman from the NSA gained access,” Rachel’s eyes jumped to me, “What did she look like?”

“Dark hair, pale skin, wore leathers,” Something told me Rachel knew the woman he was describing, “Abby get Joe here now!” She snapped.

I passed her Kim and set off at a run, where would Joe be?

“Why are you in such a rush?” The voice I was after stopped me just before I went out the door.

“Rachel’s office, now.” I told him.

“What’s up?” He frowned.

“Something about a woman from the NSA and Catherine.” I told him.

I know from past experiences that when Joseph Solomon’s face goes really really pale, you should be pale too.

“What is it Joe?” I asked as he broke in to a jog.

“My stinking past coming back to haunt me.” He growled.

“…could she get to Cammie and Zach?” Rachel was asking.

“It depends, if someone found them for her all she has to do is get there. If we’re lucky she will have to track them down first.”

“How the hell has she got out?” Joe growled as we went in, Rachel pointed at her computer screen,

“It’s her isn’t it Joe?” Tears were in her eyes again, “God Joe, if I hadn’t have been so selfish and I had let you sort it,”

“It’s okay,” Joe hugged my sister tightly.
