A/N : Inspired by the totally crappy day I've been having...

46 - You feel worthless

Everything has just been eating at you lately. You've been getting hate because you're Riker's girlfriend, your grades haven't been the best, your car broke down and you had to walk home in the pouring rain today, and you got into a huge fight with your parents.

You're currently in your bedroom, fighting back tears. Nothing has been going right lately.

Your phone suddenly starts ringing. It's Riker.

"Hello?"

"Hey... So I know we had plans for tomorrow, but my dad just told us he made last minute plans for us to go to an interview. So... I need to take a rain check."

You sigh, and hang up without saying anything. Does he even care about you? What if he's cancelling because he doesn't want to get hate for dating you?

Your phone rings again, and it's Riker. You answer it, sighing.

"What, Riker?"

"Why'd you hang up?"

"I don't want to talk about it right now. I'll see you whenever..."

You hang up again, and feel even worse inside when Riker doesn't try calling back again. He doesn't care about you.

You start to cry. Nobody seems to care. They don't think you're worth much apparently.

You curl up in bed in the darkness, hoping to fall asleep soon. But your tears and thoughts keep you awake.

All of a sudden, you hear knocks coming from your window. You get up, and find Riker standing outside in the rain. You open the window, and he climbs in.

"Hey. Are you ok? I would've done this over the phone, but I didn't want you to hang up on me again. Are you mad because I cancelled?"

"No..."

"Then what is it?"

"My life... has been going so bad lately," you say, starting to cry all over again.

"Hey, don't cry. I can help."

Riker takes off his hoodie, which is wet from the rain, and drops it on the floor. He takes off his shoes too, and takes your hand. He pulls you into your bed, and then pulls you into his arms. You lay there and cry quietly into his chest while he rubs your back.

"Do you want to tell me what's wrong now?" Riker asks, quietly.

"Pretty much everything..."

"Can you tell me?"

"I've been getting hate from all your stupid fans because we made our relationship public. And then my car broke down, and I had to walk all the way home in the rain. And then when I finally got home, I got yelled at because my grades have been slipping. I thought that would be it, but then you have to go and cancel, and I just couldn't handle everything anymore."

"Aw... I'm sorry I cancelled. My dad literally just told me about the interview. It was last minute."

"I know, Rik... It just feels like I don't matter to anyone."

"No. You matter a lot to me. And I would be really upset if anything happened to you."

"Really?"

"Really."

Riker takes your hand, and kisses the top of it softly.

"Hey... I know we had plans for lunch tomorrow... But how about after the interview, I'll take you out to dinner instead?"

"Really?"

"Yeah. I mean, there's no reason we can't just have our date a little later."

"Ok... Riker?"

"What?"

"Can you stay here tonight?"

"Oh... Yeah, sure. Are you ok?"

"I just don't want to be alone."

He holds you tighter in his arms.

"I'll be right here if you need me."

"Thanks, Rik..."

"I love you, you know that?"

"Yeah. I love you too."

You slowly drift off to sleep in Riker's warm arms.
