11 - Interview gone wrong

Your boyfriend Riker has a very important interview coming up with the rest of R5. They'll be talking about their newest album that hasn't been released yet.

Riker has been super stressed out lately because of all the deadlines they have for the album, and he's nervous about the interview. They'll be playing a small clip of one of their new songs, and he's very nervous about how the fans will react.

You're currently at the place of the interview. R5 goes on in 15 minutes, and Riker is a mess.

You watch as he paces back and forth, constantly running his fingers through his hair, making it messy.

"Riker, come here," you say, motioning for him to come over to you.

"What?"

"Stop touching your hair. You're making it look funny," you say, standing up to fix it for him.

"Oh. Oops... Thanks."

He turns to start pacing again, but you grab his hand to stop him.

"Hey. Quit your pacing. Calm down," you say, pulling him down into the seat next to you.

"Sorry. I'm just so nervous."

"Why?"

"What if the fans hate the song!?"

"Riker, I seriously don't think after all the time you spent writing, that you wrote a bad song. You let me hear it yesterday, and it was great! Everyone will think so too."

"I hope you're right. I just can't get my mind to stop racing."

"Hey. Everything will be fine, Riker."

This is very strange behavior for Riker. He's always so confident, so you're kind of confused why he's acting like this.

"R5 on in 5 minutes!" Someone called.

"I'd better go," Riker said, getting up.

"Good luck."

"Thanks."

"Riker, wait."

He turned back towards you, and you pulled him into a tight hug.

"You'll do great, Riker."

You give him a quick kiss, and then watch as he walks over to the rest of R5. They're standing to the side of the set where the interview will be.

"Alright, we'll start in 2 minutes. You guys can take a seat."

You watch as Riker stumbles over his feet, and almost falls. But he catches himself, and sits down on the very edge of the couch. His cheeks turn a bright shade of red, and he starts fanning his face.

Rydel grabs his hand, and pulls it down, whispering something to him.

The interview begins, and Riker's face goes pale. You watch as he stutters and draws a blank on most of his questions. He continuously taps his foot, and keeps shifting around like he's nervous, which you know he is.

You continue watching, and they finally get to the part where they play part of their new song. They're not filming R5 while they play it. And you see Riker put his head in his hands. Rydel helps him up, and walks him off the set, and over to you. He's incredibly pale and sweaty. His knees suddenly give out, and he's on the floor in front of you.

"He said he feels like he's about to faint. We're going to finish the interview without him, and just say he felt really sick," Rydel said, quietly.

You nod, and kneel down in front of Riker, who looks really out of it.

He lays down on the floor with his head in your lap. Ryland brings him a bottle of cold water. You open the bottle, and hold it to his lips, and he takes a few sips of it.

You and him watch as the rest of the band finishes the interview. Riker finally feels better, and sits up beside you.

"Feeling better?" You ask him.

"Kind of..."

He sighs, and you can tell he's still stressed out.

"Hey. It's ok. I'm sure everyone will understand."

"I know... That was just so embarrassing. It was a live interview, and everybody saw. That's never happened before, and I don't know why it happened now..."

"It's ok, Riker. Everyone has their moments."

The rest of R5 came walking over, and sat down next to us on the floor.

"Hey, Rik. Are you feeling ok now?" Rydel asks, putting her arm lightly around him.

"Yeah. Thanks."

"So we were thinking we could go grab some lunch. Do you feel up to it?" Ross asks.

"Yeah, I think so."

You help Riker stand up in case he's still a little lightheaded.

"Hey, Rik. We're getting some tweets about the interview," Rydel said.

You all start walking out to the car.

"Oh no. What are they saying? Do they hate me?" Riker asks.

"No! They're all really nice comments about how they love the song and they can't wait for the whole thing to be released. And some of them are wondering if you're ok. They're worried about you, Rik. Not mad."

"Can you tell them I'm ok?"

"Yeah."

"Thanks."

You guys get into the van, and Rocky starts driving to the restaurant.

"See, Riker? Everything turned out fine. They love the song, and they're all worried about you," you say, giving him a side hug.

He sighs in relief, and you see him finally relax a little.

"Hey," you say, making him look at you.

"What?"

"You're ok! Stop stressing!"

"Yeah, I'm trying. I'm still processing it."

You laugh, and kiss his cheek, making him smile. He hasn't done that in a while because he's been so stressed.

"Hey, thanks for making me feel better," Riker whispers.

You smile at him.

"No problem," you say, kissing his lips.
