Also, is anyone going to watch Riker on American Song Contest?

83 - New Girl

It's your first day in a new town. You'd just moved here because you're going to college.

Your first day of college is tomorrow, so you decided to go to a coffee shop to relax before the chaos of college starts.

You're standing in line when a blonde appears beside you.

"Have you tried their bulletproof coffee?" He asks.

"Bulletproof?" You ask.

"Yeah. It's the best. You should try it."

"Ok."

When it's your turn, you order your normal coffee order, but with bulletproof coffee, and go sit down by the window. A minute later, the blonde sits down across from you.

"So what do you think?" He asks.

"It's good," you say, smiling at him.

"My name's Riker, by the way. I haven't seen you around here before."

"I'm new here. Just moved here for college."

"Oh... I could show you around if you want. There's a bunch of cool places around."

"Yeah, that'd be great. Do you go to college around here?"

"No. I'm actually in a band."

"Oh...?"

"Yeah. With my siblings. We're playing a show here next week. You should come."

We finished our coffees, and then Riker started showing you around town. You guys went into a music store because Riker said he needed to buy a few more guitar picks.

"So what instrument do you play in your band?" You ask.

"I play bass. But I also know how to play guitar and piano. I sing backup too."

Riker picked out some guitar picks and then started looking at the guitars.

"You should play something for me," you say.

"Ok."

Riker asked someone to get one of the guitars down. You both went to a room off to the side and sat down.

"Ok, I'll play you one of the songs we're playing in our show next week. It's one of our older songs, but it's one of my favorites. It's called I Can't Forget About You."

You sat there, watching Riker intently. He had a great voice. And it was a good song too.

"What did you think?" Riker asked.

"It was great!"

"Thanks. I want to show you another place."

He gave the guitar back to one of the employees, paid for his guitar picks, and led you down the road.

"This is one of my favorite places to go. It's cooler at night because there's a bunch of lights and stuff, but it's a nice place to hang out and write songs," Riker said, leading you into a park.

You guys walked over to a picnic table and sat down across from each other.

"So you and your band write your own songs?"

"Yeah. I don't write as much as my brothers do, but sometimes I come up with ideas or song titles. I'm more of like the leader of the band. I make a lot of the decisions and stuff. My brothers are more of the song writers."

"What are some of your other favorite places?"

"There's some good places to get lunch and dinner around here. Some cool restaurants and diners. I could take you somewhere for lunch before my show next week. I mean, if you want to."

"Sure."

"So since you're going to college here, I'm assuming you live around here?"

"Yeah, I live on campus like 15 minutes from here."

"Ok. Do you want me to pick you up for lunch next week?"

"Yeah. Give me your number. I'll text you my address."

I gave my phone to Riker and he put his number in.

"I have to get going because I actually have band rehearsal, but I'll see you next week for lunch and then my show, ok?"

"Sounds good."

You wave to Riker as he leaves. You were glad you met him so he could show you around and now you even have a lunch date with him.
