Y/N drank a sip of her drink as she read her favourite book while wrapped comfortably in all her blankets, her cheeks were tear-stained, she just ignored the sad feeling in her heart, Y/n could add that date to the large list of unsuccessful dates she had been on in the past year.
What she had could be seen only two ways, it was a blessing, a power anyone would crave for, or in her opinion, a curse that would never be broken; finding a soulmate is already way too hard in her opinion, but for some reason, the universe just wanted to make it even harder for her, why not?
In a world where aliens invade Earth and Gods are real, anything can be possible, anything from a simple children's book could be real, including witches and shapeshifters, however, whatever she was, didn't have a name.
The young teen had the ability to look a different way in everyone's eyes, people saw her not the way she saw herself, but the way they wanted her to look, if someone imagined a perfect girl, she'd turn into that image of unexistent perfection that person had.
Love was a thing that wasn't around too much in her life, only when she was around people who loved her just the way she was, her family and her only friend, Michelle; people may think that looking appealing to many people on the whole planet is something amazing, but to her, not so much, if she ever fell in love with someone but later realized they didn't see her with those bright Y/E/C eyes and her Y/H/C hair, it just wasn't true love.
What hurt the most was that she was just so used to it, to that feeling of not being accepted the way she was; Y/N didn't believe in true love or all that soulmate stuff anymore, until she experienced it first hand, she wouldn't believe it.
Once, Thor told her she'd know when she met her soulmate, he told her she'd feel sparks that she'd feel special, she was hopeful at first, but that small light of hope she used to have had vanished long ago.
She pushed some hairs behind her ears and wiped the tears from her cheeks furiously before walking out of her room, right outside her door stood her father, the one and only Steve Rogers, he stared back at his daughter with worried eyes.
"I'll be back later." Y/N told him with a small smile, she hugged him and walked out the front door of her house, sometimes it was awkward to live with Tony Stark, especially after the events that had taken place months prior, so they had moved away from the Avengers Compound and into a house in Queens.
The young girl pulled her hoodie over her head after she noticed it was starting to rain, it was only four in the afternoon so she didn't worry much about having to get back home early, it was a normal routine to go out and explore the city, just to forget, or have fun.
Y/N walked into one of her favourite stores which was fairly close to her home, "Good afternoon Y/N." The old lady at the counter greeted her with a warm smile, she had gotten closer to the elderly woman after visiting her store on a daily basis, "Morning Mrs. White."
Y/N picked out a few cheap comics from the small shelf next to the counter, she started looking through them to see which one looked more interesting, two men were outside the shop, their eyes fixed on her as she read, they walked in; due to Y/N's gaze being fixed on the interesting Deadpool comic in her hands, she didn't notice the guns in their hands, not until she got the small book ripped away from her grasp.
Her eyes widened when she saw the weapons in their hands, of course, they picked that day to rob her, typical; with a quick move of her feet, she made one of the men stumble to the ground, she placed her foot firmly on his chest before he could get up, twisting his arm with a lot of force until he cried out in pain and dropped the gun beside him, she internally thanked Natasha for all the classes she had given her.
Y/N took the gun into her own hands and pointed it at the other man, who looked stronger and taller than his partner, he looked very taken aback by her abilities to take down a man way bigger than her.
She took advantage of that and kicked the gun out of the man's hand, Y/N was honestly surprised that she hadn't tripped over anything yet, it would've been very embarrassing for her.
A flash of red was seen from the corner of her eyes, she gasped when a tall figure with a red and blue suit stood in front of her.
"Are you okay?" The masked hero she knew as Spider-Man asked, they had encountered each other on a few occasions, they were good friends even if he had fought against her father.
"You're too late Spidey, some help would've been appreciated." She smiled, looking at the two men who were now unconscious on the floor, Spider-Man scratched the back of his neck as he looked at the pretty girl standing before him.
After a few minutes of silence, the girl said goodbye and walked out of the store to leave Spider-Man to deal with the two guys.
