he room had always been bright. A large window let light come into the room and it was the best spot to paint in the whole palace. However, the biggest secret that room held was the secret passage. Only Y/N and the two men knew about the existence of the place. Her grandfather had shown it to her before he passed away when she was younger.

She moved a book that sat on the dusty shelf and a passageway instantly revealed itself. It was a long and dark corridor that led to a secret room. Y/N only went there when she was overwhelmed and needed to think.

Sure enough, as Tom had said, Harrison was sitting down on a couch reading a book with his feet propped up in a stool. The moment he saw the princess walk in, he stood up and grabbed the rucksack she hadn’t noticed he had been carrying.

He could see the way her legs were shaking as well as her hands, her eyes were also glossy and Y/N looked incredibly desperate. Only thing the blue-eyed man could do was wrap his arms around Y/N’s body and let her cry on his shoulder. The next few days were going to be hard for the princess and he had to let her get the shock out of her system before continuing with their escape plan.

“What’s going on Haz? Please tell me Tom is safe,” She pleaded, voice muffles, “He rubbed her back and kissed the top of her head like she had seen Tom do whenever he wanted her to relax.

“I cannot say darling. I had to leave the palace two days ago to get some things in order. I’m sure he’s fine. Tom is wise, we both know that,” Y/N pulled away from the hug and wiped the tears from her eyes. She nodded, finally more collected “He is, I trust he’ll be fine. What are we supposed to do now?”

The blond gestured at the other door in the secret room, “That passageway leads to the stables, right?” The princess nodded and opened the door by moving another book.

He followed her through the dark corridor until they arrived to the stables. The sun was starting to set, which meant Harrison had to move quick or they’d be exposing themselves too much by being in the dark. Harrison watched in silence while the princess comforted one of the horses. A pretty white horse with flowers woven in her hair.

“This is Bella, she’s the calmest horse but she’s still very fast. That’s Bailey. She’s a feisty one,” She turned her attention to a black horse, “You can ride Bella. Bailey doesn’t really let anyone ride her other than me.”

Not even thirty minutes had passed when they were already out of the castle and deep into the woods. None of them knew what to do. Y/N didn’t know if she should ask Haz about Tom again and Harrison didn’t know what to say at all. He hadn’t seen her in years.

It was silent until Y/N finally spoke up, “So, where exactly are we going?”

“There’s a small village. It’s far away enough to know they won’t find us there. Our friend Jake has let us stay at his cabin until we find a safe place.”

“Is Tom there already?” Harrison looked at her for a second and he shrugged, “He should be. If he’s not… It’s a bad sign.”

The princess swallowed the lump in her throat and nodded, not that satisfied with the response but she didn’t want to push.

“You know, the plan completely destroyed Tom’s life. I know you were mad at us for not visiting. He received all your letters and read every single one but he didn’t want to put you in more risk.”
