You had met Tom during one of your friend's party. You had hit it up quick and became almost inseparable with each other. Fans loved your friendship a lot and it was always rumored that the two of you dated, but you had always denied them because you really were just friends.
That suddenly changed when your agent got a call from Tom's. Your new album was about to come out and you needed publicity, the release Tom's new movie was soon and he needed the attention. Somehow that meant pulling a publicity stunt and posing as a couple.
Both of you hated pretending in front of the people that supported you the most, it was hard and tiring. It was still nice to always have an excuse to take your best friend everywhere though.
You were sitting backstage after one of your shows, feet on his lap as you both ate popcorn and watched TV. Tom took out his phone and pointed it right at you. You smiled and waved.
"This amazing girl just closed the tour tonight!" Tom explained happily, "Swipe up to show my girl some love and check out her new music video. Love you guys!"
Heat rose to your cheeks, "You didn't have to do that Tom," He shrugged his shoulders, "Anything for my fake girlfriend."

It had been six months since you started fake dating. Both of you were on a temporary break, but your agents still wanted to keep you relevant, which was why you needed to keep up the act for longer.
It was starting to hurt your friendship like never before. You noticed Tom being more distant and quiet around you. He also avoided posting things where he had to kiss you or be intimate with you in any way even when both of you used to take it as a joke and laugh about it afterwards.
Everyone was oblivious of the change. Whenever you asked Haz about it, he shrugged it off by saying Tom was still the same. It was the same thing when Tom asked his friends about you.
Things weren't normal though, you fought all the time about the pettiest things you'd normally never give a damn about
You gradually started to hang out less and less until you just stopped talking all together. Rumours of a break up had been circulating all over the internet but none of you made an effort to quiet them down.
The rumours died after one of your agents leaked an old picture to make it look like the two of you were still together. Everything was calm after that, until Tom got into a scandal after pictures came out of him kissing a model and he was deemed a cheater by your fans.
It was obvious to everyone that the relationship, which never existed in the first place, was finally over for good.
You didn't know why it hurt so damn much, it was beyond you. That was until your friend Taylor had a talk with you. She was one of the few people who knew you weren't dating him for real.
"So, it hurts?" She asked after trying to make you realize the same thing, you just wouldn't get it.
"Yeah. I don't know, I just had him tied down to me because of the publicity stunt and some part of me thought it was the real deal. That maybe he'd love me back, even when this was over. Not to mention that things got to a point where I hated kissing or hugging him because everything just felt too real."
Taylor sat next to you, pleased at the words you had just said on your own, "Fuck. I'm in love with Tom."
"And I know for a fact he's in love with you too," Taylor smiled softly. You furrowed your brows, "I don't know Tay. I doubt it."
"Then why is he sitting in your living room right now waiting for you?"
