When you were a child, you would've said your dream job was being a professional ballerina, or maybe a painter, however, the thought of being a teacher never crossed your mind, as a child you were always quiet and reserved and normally wondered how a teacher could deal with so many loud and obnoxious kids at once, but yet again, the only kids you knew were Tom and his three brothers and you never went to school until your junior year of high school.
After you graduated from College, you were lost on what to do next, you had moved to San Diego to go to college and you loved it so much there that you decided to stay, you tried so many jobs after college but you felt like Louisa Clark in Me Before You, none of them sounded right and when you got the offer to teach children at a primary school you refused, but after trying, you fell in love with the kids, just like she fell in love with her job at the Buttered Bun.
The pay was decent and it was enough to pay for your small apartment, so you were happy with your life and your job. However, you were always busy, it was such a normal thing since you spent your nights grading school papers and planning classes. You wouldn't have it any other way though.
A little girl from your morning class walked up to you to show her what she had done for homework. You had asked them to draw their hero or the person they looked up to the most.
"Rachel, let me see what you have there." She smiled up at you, the gap between her two front teeth visible. Rachel gave you her drawing, "Who is it, love?"
Rachel replied with barely a whisper, "Spidey." You giggled softly, of course, she would draw Spider-Man, the little girl had everything Spider-Man, a lunch box, backpack, the whole deal!
It pained you to think about the guy that used to be your best friend, especially because of the way you broke it off.
"Well, it's a lovely drawing Rach. You can go out to recess now." You sent the little girl out of the classroom as you looked at her homework.
You hung the drawing on the wall, next to the colourful train you had hung up a few days ago.
One of your hands reached to grasp the necklace on your neck. It was the only tangible memory you still had of him.
You had been swinging on the swing set for almost a whole twenty minutes. The scarf that was uncomfortably wrapped around your neck had started to come lose. It was really chilly outside and your mum had dressed you up from head to toe in layers and layers of clothes, just to make sure you were warm and comfy, even though you were far from comfortable.
A loud wailcaught your attention, you jumped off the swing and raced to the sound. You found it was coming from a boy that looked to be around your age, a few brown curls could be seen from underneath the blue beanie he had on. His brown eyes were red and he was visibly panicked.
"Mummy!" He cried again, before he cried again, you shyly walked up to him, your little boots left little footprints on the white snow. Your little arms wrapped themselves around his waist and you just hugged him until he stopped crying, which was what your mum would do if you were crying.
He pulled away after he calmed down and wiped his tears away with his hands, you took his hand in yours and started walking to where your mum was at. She smiled when she saw you approach her, your new friend close behind.
"Hi, darling, who is this little man?" She asked sweetly, the little boy hid behind you shyly. You shrugged your shoulders.
"Dunno, he can't find his mum and he's really scared." You explain, your voice muffled by the scarf, which just kept annoyingly getting in your way.
The boy, who you had learnt was named Tom had sat down with you for a few minutes before a red-headed woman approached the three of you.
"Tom, dear, I thought I told you to stay nearby."
Your mothers had really hit it up that day and it was incredibly weird for the two of you to be apart. You loved hanging out with Tom almost every day and you still couldn't comprehend how the two of you had become strangers throughout the years.
You sighed and walked back to your desk to put your things in order. You noticed you had received a message from your best friend.
"Dude! He was totally talking about you again!" Your roommate and best friend, Cassie, was obsessed with the idea of the two of you reuniting again and becoming friends or something more. Every time he would mention the smallest details from his childhood, she'd immediately imply he was talking about you, which, he probably wasn't.
Nonetheless, you clicked on the link she kindly sent. It was another episode of Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts with James Corden.
"Okay Tom, I'm giving you the bird saliva." He exclaimed excitedly as he turned the table, Tom gagged as he smelled the saliva.
"What is the name of the person you had your first kiss with?" The crowd went wild when James asked the question. Tom found himself debating on whether he should tell the audience or drink the bird saliva.
"Y/N, her name's Y/N."
You let your jaw drop to the floor in surprise, you didn't think he'd actually say. You could only reply to your best friend with two words.
