CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW

Walking towards my car with Marla after work, I could already feel the questions brewing up.

"So...triple?" Marla asked as she looked over at me and squinted her eyes due to the bright sun.

"I mean, yeah. I just want him to keep his ass away from me- everything will be fine." I assured her as I shrugged my shoulders.

"Yeah but you already know that Trey wants you back. He's not gonna keep his distance. I even heard him the other day talking to somebody at work about missing you and wanting you back. In my opinion, yeah- you two shouldn't have started this because now he's stuck on you." She told me as we both stopped walking and looked at each other.

"I don't give a damn if he wants me back. I'm not letting a man put his hands on me like that ever again; it scared me. He's a disrespectful man and he is now free to go spread some random whores legs. Why? I don't give one about him nor what he does. You know me- I already know who I want but then again, I can't even get him.

"Ugh. Get over Tony, Cheryl. Get you some new meat..." Marla said as she started to laugh. "And throw the old meat away." She added.

I had no choice but to laugh along.

"Must I remind you- if only you knew how good he put it dow-..."

"Aight! Aight! I don't wanna hear about Tony putting it down. All I'm saying is, find someone new or...better yet, Shemar. He's free to do whatever...aha...." She said as she raised her eyebrow at me and smirked. "He wants to do to and with you now. You have no man. Therefore, all that sneaking around you told me that the two of you used to do- can stop. There's no shame now. You have no ring and there's nobody that you can hurt now." Marla said as her and I continued to walk. We finally reached both of our cars which were side by side in the parking lot. She went to her drivers side and I went to mines.

"I have no more feelings for him, Marla." I told her as I struggled to find my keys inside of my purse.

"So, let me ask you a question. If you have no feelings for him...why do you always wear your promise ring that he gave you?" She asked so suddenly.

That's when I stopped searching for my keys and looked at my hand.

I had it on. I never take it off either.

"I-...I don't know." I said as I shook that question off and continued to find my keys.

"You still like him. You know what you're doing? You've always loved Shemar, Cheryl. You just want Tony because you know it's the right thing to do. Then, since you can't have Tony- you go to Trey to try to find something new with him. However, he just doesn't fit everything you desire in a man. Maybe he fits it intimacy wise but the real stuff, Cheryl? He didn't treat you the way you wanted to be treated..." Marla explained as she put her things in her car.

"'Maybe you're right. Overall, I just want happiness and to forgive myself fully." I told her.

"You won't find that being with the wrong man..." She then told me as she got into her car without another word.
