CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW

After making Caiya a sandwich for lunch, I went upstairs with it and tried to finally get her to talk to me about what happened at school.

She never did tell me over the phone and she didn't talk in the car on our way home either.
The only thing she did was cry.

I took a deep breath once I made it towards the front of her closed bedroom door.

I gently knocked. "Caiya, can I come inside?" I asked her.

"Yes..." She said in what sounded like a depressed tone.

I opened the door and saw her in bed.

"How are you feeling? I made you something for lunch. I'm sure you're hungry..." I said as I walked over towards her and then sat on the edge of the bed next to her.

She looked over at me and then at the sandwich on the plate in my hand.

"I'm not hungry," she said as she then looked back up at the ceiling.

I deeply sighed and placed the plate on her nightstand. "So, are you ready to talk about it?" I asked her as I looked at her.

She then gently pulled the covers up over her body a little bit more and hesitated but shook her head no.

"Baby girl, you have to talk to me. How can I help you if you don't talk to me?" I asked her as I grabbed her hand closets to me and held it.

"I don't know..." she said as she rubbed her eyes with her free hand. I saw that they were starting to grow glossy, indicating that she was on the edge of crying. Whatever happened- it really made her upset. "I see no point in talking about it if I can't do anything about what damage has already been done," she added as she stopped rubbing her eyes. She always tried to fight her tears back but her and I both know how badly she wanted to cry at this moment.

Before I could say anything, the doorbell started to ring.

I lightly pulled my hand away from hers and rubbed it as I started to stand up.

"I think that's Daddy. I'll be back, okay?" I told her as I looked down at her. She nodded her head and started rubbing her eyes again but with both hands this time.

I then left out of the room and started to make my way downstairs to let Tony in. "I'm coming!" I yelled as I rushed down.

Finally making it to the door, I opened it and there stood Tony.

"Is she okay?" He asked in a rush.

"Yeah, yeah. She just wanted to come home. I asked her what was wrong but she hasn't told me anything yet. Maybe you'll have much better luck with her than I did?" I asked him as I looked into his eyes.

"Yeah, let me try," He said as he then nodded his head. "Maybe I come in?"

"Yes, come in," I told him as I moved out of the way.

He then walked in and passed by me. "So you said she was crying over the phone?" He asked as he turned to look at me.

"Yeah. I'm guessing something happened at school today but it's crazy because she wasn't there for more than thirty minutes," I explained to him as I closed the door behind him.
