CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW

"And thank you for auditioning." I said as I stood up, smiled and shook the young mans hand who auditioned.

"When will I know whether or not I got the part?" He asked as he and I then broke the handshake.

"Oh! We will contact you in about 4 weeks on whether you got it. However, we don't contact the actors if they didn't get the part." I told him.

"I see. Thanks anyways. See you too, Ms. Marla." He then said as he reached out to shake Marla's hand.

"See you as well." Marla stated as she too stood up beside me and smiled as she shook his hand.

He then waved at us and left. We kept smiling as he left and walked out of the room. Soon, he was gone.

"Whew! Gohd! I couldn't wait until he left so that I could stop all of that fake ass smiling." Marla said as she sighed and sat down. I tried my hardest not to laugh but I couldn't help myself.

"You-...you're something else. That's all have to say..." I told her as I too sat down.

"Yeah, yeah but I can't with these people. This is exactly why I work behind the scenes. Then again, I don't because I still come in contact with people. I'm far from you, Cheryl. You can be in front of millions of people and it seems as if it doesn't bother you one bit. I-...I don't see how you can do it..."

"Eh, that's not all trust. However, if you're like me- you get nervous before you get on stage but once you're on stage...it seems as if all of your fears go away, you know? Once you start moving, talking and making your character come to life...you feel alive. I mean, any theatre or entertainment person can tell you that. It's all of our high. It's an honest addiction. A good one at that."

"If only I knew or had any type of understanding of what you just said...." Marla said as she laughed. "All throughout my high school and even my college career, I worked as the stage manager. Now look, you and I both know how damn hard that job is. I think that I grew grey hairs during my fuckin' tenth grade year. Then again, they didn't know how to act right."

"You know what you should do? You should get into the spotlight for once..." I suggested to her as her and I looked at each other.

She quickly shook her head.

"And why not? Marla, in case you haven't noticed. You know HOW to act. I mean, you have to know how to act in order to be a casting director. How would you know how to pick the correct actor or actress when it comes to all of these shows and theatre productions? Besides, it's not like you're gonna be in an Non-Union play or show."

"See....I'll be damned if I do that. They will work your ass off."

"Some will. However, others actually care about their actors health. If I were you, I would start off with SGA."

"I'll think about it but then again-...." Marla said but she stopped talking once we noticed that Tony walked into the room.

I stared at him and suddenly, a smile grew on my face.

"T-...Tony, what brings you here?" I asked as I slowly stood up.
