CHERYL's POINT OF VIEW
THE PAST"See baby, you did so well." I told Caiya as I took the cupcakes out of the oven and gently placed them on top of the stove.
"I wanna see!" She said as she jumped up and down twice to get a look. I had them too far back out of her view but only for her safety.
"Okay, Okay. Let's look." I told her as I stood behind her, placed my hands on her side and picked her up for a moment to look.
"We did good!" She told me as she then reached over to try and touch the top of a cupcake.
"No, no! Not yet, baby girl. We have to wait for them to cool off, okay?" I told her as I placed her back on her feet.
"Okay. Mommy, can you fix this for me?" She asked me in her sweet voice as she gestured down towards her small apron.
"Yes, I sure can." I told her as I squatted down and started to fix it. "So, how you feel about the cupcakes?" I asked as I focused on the apron.
"I like it. I hope Daddy likes them too." She said as she looked at me and smiled.
"I know he will. So, tea party, right?" I asked as I finished with her apron and stood up.
"Yes! I'll get the tea." She said as she ran over towards the refrigerator and opened it. I lightly laughed as I watched her grab the orange juice. She would rather have that than real tea. However, baby girl can get whatever baby girl wants. It's her party.
"Here." She said as she held the orange juice carton closely towards her chest and walked it over towards me.
"Thank you, Miss Caiya." I said with a smile as I reached down and took it from her.
"Where even is Daddy?"
"Uh, he's at work." I told her as I started pouring the orange juice in the little glass tea pot she had along with her seat.
"He works a lot. It's the weekend. He should be home." She told me as she stepped on her little step stool and stood beside me.
"I know, baby girl but he's gotta work. I'm sure he will be home soon."
"I have a question..." Caiya lowly said to me.
"What's that?" I asked her as I put the orange juice down, turned around and went over towards the stove to grab the cupcakes.
"Why do you and him argue so much?"
Once she asked that question, I took a deep breath and looked at her.
"Why do you ask that?" I asked her as I then took the cupcakes out of the baking pan and sat them on a cupcake platter.
"I hear it sometimes. I know you try to hide it but even when I'm asleep- I can hear it. Is it about your plays?" She asked me as she reached over for a warm cupcakes and examined it.
"Sometimes but don't worry about that, okay? We love each other very, very much. You know that?"
"I know. It's just that after that time when—"
