CAIYA's POINT OF VIEW

I sat in math class anxiously and fidgeted with the very bottom edge of my college ruled paper. I only wrote down a few examples from the board but surely not enough to pass the next test.

My mind just couldn't focus. Never could and probably never will.

I picked up my pencil that sat beside my notebook and started to draw something in mind that I wanted to paint once I got home. A frightened little girl who obviously was full of some pain. I needed to keep this scholarship for NYU and if I don't, my parents will be on my ass even more.

I knew soon that I would have to turn in my first painting and explain it to yet another group of art show viewers. Since it took me so long to paint another painting, the same judges would have to come view my art piece. I'm fine with it.

I continued drawing on my paper and peeked up at the board every once in a while. My foot lightly tapped the floor and I sighed a deep sigh knowing that I had thirty more minutes in this classroom filled with fools.

I could also feel my stomach on the edge of growling because I didn't eat any breakfast this morning. My Dad sucks at making breakfast. That's why I wish that I could go over my Moms house more often but that never happens.

My Dad likes for all of us to be over his house most of the time and I don't know why because we all go to our separate rooms. Except for Dana.

Suddenly, I felt my phone vibrate on my desk.

Sneakily, I reached over, turned it face up and faced a message from my boyfriend, Justin.

Baby ❤️:
Meet me in the boys locker room. Now.

This was Justin's first time messaging me during class out of the blue like this. Usually he would tell me in advance but this was new.
I knew it had to be something serious.

I rushed to text him back.

Baby, are you alright?

He instantly messaged me back.

Baby ❤️:
Yeah, I just need yo help
with somethin. Come.
rn, please.

After I finished reading his text message, my hand shot up in the air to get my teachers attention. My teacher instantly looked at me and raised her eyebrows.

"Yes, Caiya?" She asked. The entire class looked over at me.

"I'm kinda not really feeling too good. Can I go to the nurses office?" I lied. I made sort of a queasy facial expression and hoped she would let me go.

"Grab your things. Hope you feel better. Email me for the rest of the notes along with the homework assignment."

"Yes, ma'am." I responded as I stood up, pulled my skirt down a bit and grabbed my backpack from the floor. "Thank you." I said as I walked down the aisle and tried my best not to hit anyone with my backpack.

"Looks like someone has some ass on her. Maybe Justin did get lucky." A heard a boy lightly whisper towards another next to him. I looked over at him, rolled my eyes and kept weaving through people.

And this is why I preferred wearing sweats to school but I couldn't just be dressing any kind of way being on Justin's arm.
