When Bendy turned eight, he started to wonder about the ring on his finger. Why was it there? What was its purpose? He tried taking off many times before but they never seemed to budge. They change color as well. Like, yellow, green, blue or red and many more. He always got confused. So he decided to ask his parents. Opening the door to their bedroom, he spoke: "Mom, dad. I think I'm old enough to know why there's a color-changing ring on my finger that I can't seem to remove." He said meekly, looking up at his mother and father.

Both abruptly stop doing what they were doing as they processed what their little boy said. His father slowly lowers the newspaper he was reading as he questioned. "Are you sure, Bendy?" Bendy nods, his father looking at his mother for approval. She sighs and smiles slightly, nodding. "Yes. I think he's old enough." Bendy broke into a smile as he grabbed a stool and sat on it happily, right in front of his father. His father placed the paper aside and leaned forward. He gestures for the little demon's hand as he gladly gave it to him.

As his father receives Bendy's hand, he sees the similar ring on his father's hand. He glances at his mother and she has the same. Both rings were pink. He looked at his and it was teal. His father smiled. "Now, as you can see, Bendy: Both me and your mother have the same rings, yes?" Bendy nods, excitement just eating him away. "Well, depending on the color of your ring, that's the color of your soulmate's emotion." Bendy nods slowly, even more curiosity finding their way into his head. "Well, since yours is teal: It means your soulmate is curious." Bendy glances at it, and tilted his head. "It just turned orange." He said, in an act of confusion.

His father chuckles. "It means she's confused. Like you," he laughed, making Bendy's mother do so too. "But if it turns pink," His father continued with a smile, "it means you have found her. So always check on it, alright?" Bendy nodded enthusiastically as he almost flew out of his stool in happiness. "And what else, father?" His mother smiled gently, "If it turns black however..." His father placed a hand on his shoulder, "It means she has...passed away. So always check on it, okay?" Bendy nodded slowly, every bit of happiness getting sucked out of him. His father notices the sad look on his son's face so he gave him a reassuring pat. "Don't worry. She'll be fine, I assure you." Bendy nodded as he jumped down the stool and placed it back to where it belongs. "Thank you, mother! Thank you father!" Bendy exclaimed as he ran out the door and shut it. He squealed in happiness as he ran to his room.

Later that night, many friends of Bendy's parents came to visit. He was playing with the other children in the play area as the parent's drank and talked in the living room. Bendy's family, having a house so big that it looks royalty, had parties every weekend for his father's delight. Owning a big and successful business was not all that bad. "I gotta go pee!" Bendy excused himself as he ran down the hallway. Doing so, he passed by the living room. "Remember when Felix lost his soulmate at the age of, what, eleven?" This made Bendy stop abruptly. "No he was twelve. Poor kid." Bendy heard a scoff as he leaned closer to listen. He knew eavesdropping was bad but he wanted to know. "He's twenty two, Martha."

They continued talking but Bendy couldn't bring himself to listen anymore. He ran down the hallway once more and reached the bathroom. He shut the door as he breathed heavily. He glanced at his ring worriedly as it was yellow. He smiled sadly, sliding down the door. "...I'll protect you...I promise.."

Somewhere far, far, far away, lived a little girl who was sobbing in her bedroom. She weeped and cry, pounding on the wall beside her as she couldn't accept what was happening. "Felicia you brat open the door!" She wailed, stomping as she rolled back and forth as a small ball. "It's not fair!! Why?!! Why did he have to leave just for his...his.." She struggled to speak as she gripped on her hair, "Stupid writing!!!" She grabbed the nearest thing she could grab and threw it. It was her picture frame...a picture of her brother and her...one of her most prized posessions. A part of her regretted that, of course. But she could care less. She let out a loud scream as she pounded on her bed. "Why?! Why?! Why?! Why..?! Why..?" She collapsed, her kneeling on the floor as her head was against her bedsheets. "Why..did you have..to leave me..?" She croaked out to no one, hiccups escaping her without remorse.
