I want to sleep
I just want to sleep
Life's too tiring and it's so hard to keep
Sleeping seems so easy
Except when it won't find me
And I'm awake all hours of night
Sleeping seems so peaceful
Until all my dreams haunt me
The silence isn't quite silence
But neither is the dark
There's always one light
That makes the shadows dance
Into things that don't make sense
I envy people who can fall asleep in minutes
When I toss and turn for hours
I envy people who can sleep anywhere
When I'm only able to be comfortable in my own bed
Away from prying eyes
I envy people who don't have issues with sleeping
It's a wonder how their daily lives don't affect that part
But all my monsters seem to greet me
No matter what state I'm in
They never leave
They never quiet
They never stop
I would like a break from them
But it's unlikely
It's so hard to think
It's so hard to relax
I just want to be
Someone with facts
This fictitious thing conjured in my head
Becomes bigger by the day
Rolling all my problems into a giant thing
Unable to detach from each other
I don't know how to feel
It's just an immense fear
That that thing could take over
And I'll just disappear
I can't sort my thoughts
They're all jumbled and crowded
And if I scream I hope someone will hear it
But I'm probably just lost in the echo.
