I loved you as you drove away
I loved you,
With so many things to say
I held you,
And kissed the tears away
Because it's all I could do
My throat choked me
With the familiar burn
As I watched you take that turn,
Away from me my love
Farther than I could reach
Farther from my touch
You won't be gone forever,
But it will feel that way to me
As I wait for you,
To return to me
And though you're gone
I'll wait right here
I'll wait forever if I need
I'll drain the oceans
Throw the world from its orbit
Until I can hear you breathe
I'll read the days away
wishing for your arms
I'll read about men like you
So the distance doesn't feel so far
I'll read to distract myself,
That you are not there
I'll read until I can't anymore
And cry beyond repair
Though I'll miss you,
While you're gone
I know it's for the best
Knowing that
It will not quiet,
The erratic beating in my chest
I'll wait for you,
I will always wait
As you waited for me
Once you're in my arms again
In love again, I will believe
