I Promise (D.O)

Written by AmberHasenn8

"I'll be back before you know it," Kyungsoo said to me.

"But it's still two years D.O," I protested.

Kyungsoo, or D.O. as he liked to be called, was leaving for his military service in a couple days. It wasn't a secret that he would be gone for two years. Want to know the worst part? He had proposed three days ago. He promised that he would be back to marry me. But the fact that he was going to be gone for two years stuck in my head. Not to mention the fact that he was going to be gone for the entire engagement. I knew it wasn't his fault, but it didn't change my mind. And I knew I couldn't fight it. All I could do was wait for him to get back. It was already setting up to be a depressing couple of years.

*Two Days Later*

"I don't want you to go," I whispered to D.O.

We were saying goodbye before he had to go. He wrapped me in his arms and hugged me tightly.

"I don't want to go either, but I have to," D.O. answered. He pulled back and held up my left hand. "Just remember that I'll be back to marry you."

He gave me one last kiss that was packed with meaning. D.O. brushed a hand across my cheek before grabbing his bag and leaving. I fell onto the couch and tried not to cry. D.O. was the love of my life. I didn't know what I'd do if something happened to him. Without realizing it, I fell asleep. That was my first night, after an almost two-year relationship, without D.O. It was an understatement to say I missed him.

*Two Years Later*

I opened my door after a fevered knocking. Kai, D.O.'s best friend was on my doorstep. He slipped by me and into the living room.

"Get dressed and look your best," he told me. "We only have half an hour."

I raised a brow, but did as Kai said. I quickly showered and slipped on a baby pink dress that went down to my knees. I put on light make-up before putting on a pair of white heels and heading down stairs. Kai wrapped a blindfold on my eyes and brought me out to the car. I don't know how long we drove before we stopped. Kai carefully lead me out of the car and along a path.

He slipped the blindfold off of my eyes. "Remember the promise."

My eyes widened. It was the wedding area of my dreams. Only one person knew that. I looked at the people gathered. Friends and family. My eyes traveled to the man standing out in front of everyone. D.O. looked amazing in his tux. Xiumin, my best friend, walked me down the alse. D.O smiled and took my hand.

"I told you that I'd marry you."
