The next day, Nick had shot awake in alarm. She had fallen asleep on the couch after waiting for Tony to respond to what she had exactly hacked into, which revealed SHIELD's true intention of using the Tesseract.

She had spent the entirety of last night and even stayed up until early in the morning hacking and waiting for Tony, but by now it was around 3 in the afternoon. It took a moment to realize that it was her instincts that were in alarm, causing her to quickly stand up and look around, not really understanding what was happening. But everything looked fine.

The hairs on the back of her neck told her otherwise though, making Nick brush a strand of hair out of her face that had fallen out of her braid as she moved around the floor. She checked every room just to make sure, but when she cleared everything, the girl eventually made her way back to the elevator.

After another glance around, the girl furrowed her eyebrows together and turned to the elevator, pressing the button. She waited only a couple seconds before the elevator opened and she stepped into it, waiting impatiently and tugging at her sleeve as the elevator began going down.

But then her watch began going off, and when Nick looked down, she saw that Tony was trying to call her. The girl answered immediately, Tony's face popping up on a small projection momentarily and she became confused, not only because the call seemed a bit statically, but because he seemed to have a new black eye and he seemed to be concerned as he tried to speak to her. "Bambi... tell... me... you aren't... Tower, right?"

Nick's eyebrows furrowed, "You're a bit glitchy. I'm at the Tower, yeah. Is everything okay?"

The brunette could barely see somebody running behind Tony and asking who he was talking to,  but the girl ignored the blonde man who was in what looked like a blue and red costume, as Tony tried to tell her to get out.

Nick couldn't understand him, and assuming that it was the elevator, she stopped the elevator a couple floors below the loft, and when it opened and she stepped out, she nodded at him. "Okay, what?"

"Listen to me carefully. You have to get out of there. Get out of there now."

Nick nodded and was about to ask why, when she suddenly jumped and ducked her head at the sounds of gunshots. The video call glitched out, but it continued a call where Tony could hear gunshots, and he desperately asked if she was okay but Nick wasn't really paying attention to him.

The brunette didn't see anybody at first because of the hallway she was in, but when someone suddenly ran around the corner looking terrified, she ended up letting out a startled scream as there were more gunshots that sent him to the ground.

Nick stumbled backwards, practically falling back into the elevator and ducking her head as there were more gunshots, this time aimed at her.

She had her eyes squeezed closed, screaming in fear, as she suddenly remembered a time when she was younger. The gunshots echoing through her head as glimpses of when she was 6, witnessing someone who was only 14-years-old getting shot at multiple times and killed, during an armed robber running from the cops and ending up in the orphanage she was in, to hide.
