After the next school day was over, Nick - along with everyone else in the school - didn't go home. It was the Pep Rally Tuesday before the big game on Friday, which was also the day winter break began for everyone because the following Sunday and Monday was Christmas Eve, which also meant that the Saturday before them was supposed to be the Winter Homecoming Dance.
Nick had just grabbed her things from her locker before she met up with Lexie and Kayla, who were in the bathroom, with Lexie putting on lipgloss after taking off the black tights she had been wearing under the plaid skirt she had on and Kayla taking off the school tie. Nick had joined the two in trying to get ready for the closest thing their school ever really had for a party.
The brunette shoved her tie, glasses, and the blazer in her bag, before she then untucked her white shirt and unbuttoned it, showing the black tanktop that she always wore underneath it. After that, the girls then left the building and went out to where the football field was, which was already packed with students, especially in the back parking lot where there was a huge bonfire going on.
The girls were excited since this was the first bonfire they had been allowed to because the school made it a rule that you can only come to this thing when your 13 or older, so that they didn't have elementary school kids mixed in with the high schoolers - which anybody could already guess would be a bad idea.
Since the Pep Rally wasn't technically supposed to start for another hour, the high schoolers in that had their cars in the parking lot were the ones blasting music, while the teachers and chaperones were just setting up the concession stand that was always open for food and drinks during any sports game if you bought the snacks. But during the Pep Rally, they had the snacks for free, along with being able to check your bags and coats in there so that nothing could get stolen.
Nick, Kayla, and Lexie had gotten juice pouches each and nachos to share, as well as checking in their bags so that they could wonder around until it started.
Unlike other schools, this one didn't have the kind of issues where Seniors and high schoolers looked down and picked on the younger kids. In fact, they had been the ones to actually volunteer to help out with setting the Pep Rally up. There was even a place that you were allowed to get your face painted with the school's colors - which the girls obviously did. Nick had gotten war paint on her cheeks, Kayla had gotten a handprint on one side of herself, and Lexie had done dots on her cheeks and forehead.
By the time it had actually started and went on for an hour, it looked like there were already over 100 students in the crowd that had gathered on the grass of the football field, and the Coach was standing on a stage that they had moved into the field, with the middle school and high school football teams all standing behind him in their numbered jersey shirts.
"Wow, look at this turnout!" The Coach yelled over the crowd after he blew the whistle, which got everyone to shut up. The crowd cheered, including Nick and the other two, until the girl couldn't help but laugh. "If I could, I'd give you all extra credit for the school spirit that's being showed tonight!"
