Nick roughly landed on the pavement, and as she grunted in pain and lifted her head up, she clenched her jaw, ignoring the scrape she had gotten on her elbow as she got back up and turned around, swinging her fist with her to punch the bully in the face with enough momentum and strength that he stumbled backwards with a bloody nose.

There were gasps in the crowd that had formed outside the school and in the parking lot, where Nick had, of course, found herself in the middle of a fight.

She had been walking out to the tables that were outside, with her lunch tray in her hands, when she saw the school bully and his group surrounding one of the loner and nerdy kids. She had tried to ignore it and to mind her own business, but then the school bully - Mark - had shoved the loner, Wyatt, to the ground and stomped on his glasses. That's when she didn't care and had spoke up while walking over, before she "accidentally" spilled the mystery chili lunch on Mark.

And that had earned her to get shoved to the ground while getting told to mind her own business.

But, obviously she didn't because Nick hated bullies.

Mark had quickly caught his footing and wiped at the blood from his nose before he then stormed towards her and grabbed her by the collar of her shirt, "Bitch, you should have just stayed out of it."

Nick just glared up at him as she tilted her head a bit and sneered, "Or what? Are you gonna hit a girl in front of the whole school?"

Mark, who was a grade ahead of her, pulled his lips together as he glared at her in hatred and shoved her against the wall hard, but it didn't faze her. He then leaned closer to her, "You won't always be protected, Mendes."

This obviously wasn't the first time Nick had stood up to Mark since she had gotten to this high school, and by now, there was a deep hatred they both had for each other. It wasn't as bad as when her and Peyton had been at the Home, but it was on it's way to be.

Nick just raised an eyebrow and mockingly said, "Promise?"

He couldn't hit her, he knew that. In fact, he had been taught the exact opposite and he had admired it, but this girl... she was the exception to everything he had been taught. Mark let go of her collar and slammed his hand against the wall right next to her head, hard enough that it made a noise and would have made anyone else flinch or back away from the fight - it even did that to some of the crowd, but not Nick.

In fact, she looked annoyed. She just glanced sideways at his arm before the 14-year-old looked back towards him and forcefully shoved him away from her, "Either get the balls to hit a girl or stay out of my face."

The crowd 'oh!'ed loudly, but Nick just ignored it and walked passed Mark without a second glance. She moved over to where Wyatt was struggling on the ground because he couldn't find his stuff since his glasses were ruined, so Nick grabbed his backpack and moved over, taking his arm gently to help him up.
