When Nick got to school the next day, she ended up taking Ned's suggestion to go talk to Mrs. Kings before school actually began. She had about ten minutes before the bell rang to warn students to actually get to their class, so she was just hoping that as she made her way to the room, that Mrs. Kings would actually give her something other than the essay.
The girl knocked on the door as she entered the room, "Mrs. Kings, can I speak to you about- Oh, I'm sorry." She stopped when she saw that Mrs. Kings was at her desk with some blonde girl standing in front of her, her back facing Nick. "I can just come back-"
The teacher seemed a bit stressed, but upon seeing Nick, she smiled. "No, it's fine. Actually, I'm glad you're here. Can you show our new student around today?"
"Oh, uh-mm.." Nick slowly moved closer to the desk, "Are you sure? I mean, I've only been going to this school for-"
"Yes. I'm sure." Mrs. Kings said with a nod and smile, and just by the look that she had given the blonde in front of her, Nick knew that whoever this girl was, apparently wasn't happy about this. Especially when the teacher gave her a look, "Be nice."
"Whatever." The blonde grumbled, so Mrs. Kings nodded over to Nick. "I'd like you to meet-"
"No way." The blonde had finally turned around, her jaw dropping as her eyes widened, while Nick's jaw dropped as well. "You have got to be kidding."
"You two know each other?" Mrs. Kings looked between the two girls in confusion, watching as they practically glared at each other.
It didn't matter how much time had passed or how much they've grown since the last time they've seen one another, the two girls could always recognize each other.
"I thought you lived in like Hawaii or something." Peyton Kings practically sneered at the girl, causing Nick to glare at her, crossing her arms over her chest. "It's been two years. Things obviously change."
"I would have liked it better if I never had to see you again."
"Right back at you." Nick snapped back, "Glad to see you never out grow bitchiness."
"Okay, I think-" Mrs. Kings stood up, definitely sensing the tension now, but Peyton just ignored her and stepped towards Nick. "And glad to see you can never out grow being a street rat."
"Hey!" Mrs. Kings raised her voice as she stepped between the two girls who looked ready to throw a punch, but Nick just ignored her as she snapped at Peyton. "This street rat saved your life. Or don't you remember that?"
"I remember that. Just like I remember being put into the hospital because of you." Peyton sneered back, causing Nick to glare. "It was a broken leg, stop being such a wimp."
"Why you little-"
This time Mrs. Kings actually had to pull the two back from each other, "Knock it off. Now you two will be nice to each other, or else I will put you both in detention." Both the girls just glared at each other, clenching their jaws, but then Nick registered something and looked up. "Kings. Oh my... Are you two related?"
