The kids were being led with the group, gripping each other's arms, nearly to the subway that was apparently going to be the safe spot. But since Nick apparently had the worst luck today, they and some others were suddenly knocked off their feet by some blasts.

Nick quickly covered her head and squeezed her eyes shut as dirt and pavement and glass pieces were blasted and showering around them. When it stopped, Nick looked up to see some officers shooting at the group of Chitauri that had closed in on them, but their bullets weren't really doing anything.

Jeremy had already crawled over, helping Nick to her feet, before they then moved over to help Peyton up. But the entire time, Nick was seeming to examine the area and the situation, hearing even more screams and whimpers, and even a baby crying. So she got an idea.

The brunette quickly looked to the other two, "I've got an idea."

"Your ideas always end badly." Jeremy quickly shook his head, but Nick just gave him a look. "Run. Get to safety."

"But-"

"Now!" And with that, she took off, splitting off from the group.

The girl ran as far as she could from the group and without getting spotted, before she ducked behind a taxi, before using a broken mirror a couple feet from her, and lifted up a hand. She redirected the sunlight so that it shone into the mirror, before she used the reflection to shine a light in one of the alien's eyes.

Nick waited a couple seconds, knowing that it must've whirled around to look at where the light came from, but when she thought it was clear, the girl peeked over the vehicle only to regret it. She felt herself gulp as it screeched at the other two it was with, causing them all to turn to her.

Now that the Chitauri's attentions were off the people, they were able to rush to get to safety again, as Nick had to quickly get to her feet and practically leap out of the way, landing and rolling as they blast at the taxi, which caused it to explode.

The girl quickly scrambled to get to her feet and take off running down the street, leading them away from the people, as she tried to cover her head while running, since they continued firing. She eventually got to a vehicle and jumped on it, sliding across the hood of it before dropping to the ground on the other side and pulling her legs in as she hid her head while the Chitauri closed in on her, continuing their firing.

Vehicles were getting knocked to the sides from blasts that tore at the ground, and even though their aim sucked, Nick also knew that the closer they'd get, the better chance they had to get her. Nick looked around trying to think, now realizing that usually all her plans ended badly because they were never completely thought through.

Nick then looked up before getting an idea to use the side mirror on the car. She moved so that she kicked upwards hard, having to do it a couple times before it finally broke off and hit the ground. Nick then quickly grabbed it and got to her stomach, rolling under the vehicle and knowing that this could end so badly. She then army crawled, staying hidden under the car, but placing the mirror in front of her, before lifting up one hand slightly to redirect even more light before adding her own white light, blinding the Chitauri just as one of their blasts hits the vehicle.

She quickly covered her head with her arms as the vehicle suddenly landed ways away, and causing her to quickly get to her feet and used their brief blindness to quickly sprint over to a black and yellow school bus that was at the beginning of one of the overpasses that were basically driving bridges. By the time she managed to force the front doors open and crawl inside, staying on her hands and knees to keep hidden, the Chitauri all let out screeches, all completely annoyed by this kid.

Nick took a moment to stay hidden, before she moved over and peeked through one of the windows near the front of the bus, seeing that the Chitauri were looking for her, one of them blasting at random vehicles on the off chance she was hiding there.

The girl quickly went back into the isle, crawling towards the back of the bus, before climbing in a seat and ducking her head. She then carefully peeked through the window, before deciding that if she could just keep them distracted on certain things, then maybe she could just keep hidden in the bus.

So, she focused and concentrated on redirecting sunlight in different spots each time, each time seeming like there was a random shine of light coming from every place other than the bus. At some point she even made it look like it was coming from a couple stories above them, across the street from the bus, and when the alien blasted at the building, she realized that they must not be that smart.

She continued doing that for a couple minutes, even wanting to laugh, but of course, her luck was awful. Her watch began ringing with a call, causing Nick to quickly drop and roll back onto the floor as her eyes were wide and she struggled to shut the noise off, ignoring Tony's call so that she could try to keep quiet.

When silence filled the air finally, she held her breath, not even wanting to move the slightest as she also heard the firing stop outside.

Once she declined the call, it also allowed JARVIS to trace her watch, so he informed Tony of where the girl was. But obviously neither the billionaire or the AI knew of what exactly she was in.

After a couple moments, Nick finally lifted her head up, but before she let out a relieved breath, there was suddenly a loud screech type noise and when she looked up, she saw that there was one peeking in through the front windshield. She made eye contact with the Chitauri, but then saw the familiar device in it's hand, causing her to already begin crawling backwards as it placed the bomb on the front before running off.

Nick quickly tried to get to the back of the bus, but before she was even able to open the emergency door, the bomb went off.
