Tony Stark and Nick Mendes were sat on seats opposite each other, Tony practically staring at her with narrowed eyes, as Nick seemed to be looking anywhere but him.
Well, that is until thirty minutes had passed and he sat back, "Who sent you?"
"No one." She looked at him, but Tony just ignored her and stood up, shaking his head. "Did Potts send you as a prank to get me to stop going out?" He then looked around them, as if someone else was there. "Good try, Pep, it ain't gonna work!"
"Look, I've got some papers, if you don't-" Nick began unzipping her bag, but was interrupted when someone else walked in. A woman strawberry-blonde that had her hair pulled up into a neat ponytail, and she was in a professional black pencil skirt and white button up shirt that had her sleeve neatly pulled up to her elbows. "What are you yelling about- oh." The woman paused, looking to the little girl. "Who's this?"
Nick opened her mouth to say her name, but was interrupted by Tony saying. "Girl Scout."
"I'm not a Girl Scout." The girl stood up almost like she was offended, which she kinda was, but it was more irritated and annoyance, as well as nervousness and anxiousness. Because the longer that she was there, the more trouble she would be in. And the more trouble she could be in.
The 10-year-old shook her head with a loud breath through her noise, Tony raising his eyes at her attitude. "Sorry, kid, I didn't catch your name. I was too busy with the lie you said and you basically busting in through the door and coming into my home. You know, I should call the cops-"
"Dios mío, eres tan dramático." [Oh my god, you're so dramatic] Nick rolled her eyes, but Tony gave her a look and shook his head, obviously not understanding her. Pepper, on the other hand, had slightly snorted but quickly covered her mouth. Tony turned to her, "What? What did she say?"
Pepper, holding back a laugh, just shook her head. "Nothing that isn't true."
Now Nick scoffed, smiling a bit, but Tony looked a bit frustrated. "What am I missing?"
"Listen, I get that I kinda dropped a big bomb or whatever, but you need to listen to me so that you can-" Nick tried again to reach for her bag, but Tony cut her off by turning to Pepper. "If you didn't set this up, then who did? That Phil guy from couple years ago? Rhodey? Or was it Happy?"
Pepper gave him a confused look, "Set what up?"
"Like you don't know." Tony rolled his eyes, "You're Pepper Potts. You always know what's going on."
"Have you met you?" Pepper gave him a look now, "I don't know what's going on with you over half the time."
"Yes, but you're the walking planner. So, you know who planned this. So, spill."
"Planned what?"
"Cielos, los adultos hablan demasiado." [God, adults talk too much.] Nick grumbled, rubbing her forehead as they went back and forth. She could already feel her stomach doing flips the longer she was there, not even able to get a word in, meaning that she'd be there even longer.
