After a restless night, Nick still had to go to school in the morning even though she was exhausted. So much so that she forgot the tie of her uniform and forgot all her homework at home. The girl knew it was probably one of the worst times to do so since today was technically the last day of school before winter break began, but part of her was too tired to really care.
It was just the beginning of second hour for her when Nick had to sit outside her class because she didn't turn in the study guid, which meant that she wasn't able to take the test. The girl was sitting in the hallway with one of her other classes work out as she tried to use Lexie's notes, since Nick had forgotten her's at home, to fill out the worksheet.
But she kept messing up, and it wasn't until she even wrote down the simplest answer wrong, did the girl scribble it out while groaning in frustration before she practically threw the notebook on the ground and squeezed her eyes shut while she leaned her head against the wall.
"So, I take it you're having a bad day?"
When Nick opened her eyes, she looked up at Jack, who seemed to have just come back from his locker or something because he also had a hall pass in his hand. She just grunted in response and looked at the ground, which made Jack frown before he then sat down next to her. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"I wouldn't even know how to start." The girl sighed as she looked at the wall of lockers across from them, so Jack nudged her arm gently. "Hey, you can always talk to me, Ace. I'm always here for you."
Nick finally looked at him, and she gave a small smile. "Thanks, Skater Boy."
He nodded and smiled, "Anytime."
But then their phones both chimed, and when the kids took their phones out, they saw that it was because they were getting notifications of another Mandarin video. And even though Nick felt her stomach drop at it, she put her phone down and moved to look at Jack's, since he had clicked on the video while tilting his phone so they could watch it.
The Mandarin loudly crushed something under his fist before the footage changed to him getting greeted coming out of some vehicles. "True story about fortune cookies. They look Chinese, they sound Chinese, but they're actually an American invention." And as he spoke, it showed people with bags over their heads, getting yanked out of a video and shoved to their knees on the ground. And Nick already knew that this was an execution.
"Which is why they're hollow, full of lies, and leave a bad taste in the mouth. My disciples just destroyed another cheap American knock-off, The Chinese Theatre." At that, Nick actually sat up straighter, eyebrows creased in worry as she quickly grabbed her phone, remembering Happy talking to her the last time he picked her up, about the fact that he was about to follow some sketchy person to Los Angeles... right near there.
