"Giddy, I love you, but you are being extra annoying." Nick breathed out when the Dino creature jumped into her lap, causing her to stop what she was doing and practically glare at it, before letting out a breath and putting it back on the ground. She had just began adding onto the paragraph of the essay she already began managing to write a little over a month ago, and she didn't hate what she wrote.

It was about 7 pm, meaning that Happy should be on his way with dinner. And also meaning that Nick was wearing her pajamas, fuzzy socks, and her hair was pulled up completely into a bun. She had her glasses on, since she now only wore them at home - and she was sitting at the counter with her schoolwork spread out.

She was also annoyed because it had been about a week since Peyton got to the school, and already, the girls's rivalry seemed to have sparked up again. But at least it wasn't to the extreme that the Home in Cuba was, since the Home let a lot of stuff pass... but here, not so much.

They had already caused a couple scenes that made Nick definitely have more attention on her than she'd like - all the teens at the school now finding the rivalry entertaining, and waiting everyday for something new and exciting to happen. But clearly Nick didn't fight her as hard as she usually did, because this school was her last shot here, and she really didn't want to get into trouble.

Which also made the girl a lot more frustrated, because she tried to just avoid Peyton. Meaning that she switched her photography class so that she didn't have the same class with Peyton. And she now had lunch on the bleachers of the football field if it was sunny out, or she hid in the library. It also made her definitely start hanging out less with her group, unless it was during classes they shared, or with their after school hangout sessions. But those were beginning to get pushed and canceled on a lot recently.

Peter just never showed up, giving bad excuses. Harry had a lot of things with his family to deal with, so he sometimes had to cancel.

Actually recently, it had just been Nick and Ned, but Ned had gotten grounded because of a failed class. Which he completely forgot to tell her about so Nick had sat at the cafe for an hour waiting, before eventually giving up and heading home - where she then got the message in the group chat that he was grounded and couldn't go for the rest of the week.

The boys had been messaging back and forth, but Nick just ignored it and turned her phone off so that she could just take a breather. It was beginning to feel like a different kind of loneliness than earlier this year. Because even though she had friends and people to talk to... it was just like they were always at an arms length away but she couldn't do anything about it.

And Steve and the team had been working on tracking Rumlow, so they hadn't been able to come by often.

Rhodey and Happy were the ones who had hung out with her the most in the past couple days, because Tony had to leave briefly for work and projects he was dealing with.
