"Uh... hi."

Nick glanced up from her random doodling and looked up at the boy with lighter brown hair that was neatly brushed back, and was wearing glasses. He was in a neat long sleeve and was holding his stuff with him, but when he saw her glance around confused, he then asked. "You weren't paying attention, were you?"

"No, sorry." She gave a sheepish smile and he could feel his cheeks heat up a bit because of the cute girl, who then nodded for him to sit next to her. But he then quickly tried to shake it off while sitting down, "Mrs. Kings partnered everyone up for the project coming up. And these are the same partners we're supposed to have when we take the field trip to Osborn Industries."

"Right." She nodded and put her notes away, before pulling out the worksheet that had been passed out at the beginning of class. "Um, I'm Nick, by the way."

"I know." He said, but then his eyes widened a bit. "I mean, not that I- I stalk you or anything - I mean, I- I remembered from when you first showed up. Not that I-"

"What's your name?" She asked with a smile, cutting off his rambling, finding his dorkiness kinda cute. He pushed his glasses more up his nose, "I- I'm Peter."

"Hey look, Penis Parker got a new girlfriend!" Someone suddenly shouted and Nick immediately knew that it was Flash Thompson. There were a few snickers in the class as Nick just fought the urge to turn around and snap at him, while Peter just faced forward again, obviously embarrassed as he then glanced at her. "I'm sorry. I can ask for a new partner if you'd like."

"That's unnecessary." She shrugged it off, before pointing at the paper with her pencil. "Let's just ignore him and work on this."

After a month of being at Midtown, Nick hadn't necessarily made friends, but she had made acquaintances with a couple people. Liz Allen, who was about two grades ahead of her, was always friendly towards Nick and tried to get her into clubs and such. Then there was Michelle Jones, who hadn't exactly talked to Nick, but the two did sit at the same lunch table and were partnered up for gym class, but that usually just meant that they sat near each other while doing their own thing. Such as reading or working on schoolwork.

Nick always sat in the same spot during lunchtime everyday, but when they were allowed to sit outside for lunch, she found herself going over and sitting under a tree that was more away from all teens and tables. She had set her bag by her side as she sat crisscross on the grass, pulling her flannel on over her t-shirt since even though it was sunny out, the breeze was chilly.

She hadn't grabbed lunch that day because she knew that she could just grab some food after school, since she usually walked and took the subway back to the Tower. Since the Avengers Tower was in Manhattan, and the school was in Queens.
