The first thing that hit Nick when she started coming to consciousness was a blinding bright light above her, then a cold surface below her - but her vision was blurry and everything seemed to swim around her.

Despite her ringing ears, she swore there were dogs barking in another room. She lifted her head up and looked over, narrowing her eyes and trying to pray them to focus on something... that thing being a clipboard on the side, and saw that she was in a veterinary clinic.

But then her head dropped back down as her eyes closed as she started to lose consciousness again - everything happened too fast for her to comprehend. Her mind confused as it went back and forth from many things that had happened over the past week.

Laughs echoed in her ears as she was suddenly brought back to class, the girl sitting at her desk in Mr. Bennett's class, but instead of the desks set up like they usually were - they were sitting at tables. Her and Peter were laughing as they played hangman on a piece of paper in front of them, instead of listening to the lesson.

But as it went on like any other school day, the laughs seemed to turn into a buzzing, almost.

"Fix her up."

"Fix her up? It's more humane to put her down."

"We might need her to get to him if there's an issue."

"And if there's no issue?"

"She'll be a good grand for us."

Nick's smile slowly dropped as she looked around confused, before looking back forward, looking at her friends, since Harry and Ned were in front of them. "What is that?"

"What's what?" Ned asked, but then laughed as he pointed down at the paper in front of him and Harry. "Nice one."

"What?" She forced a chuckle, confused, and Harry showed her the paper - which was hangman, but was completely guessed and written out... as well as showing the fully drawn hung stick figure.

"Dead meat?" She looked up at them confused, shaking her head. "What's funny about that?"

"It's what happened to the new kid." Harry shrugged off, causing her to look at him confused, before she turned in her seat - her eyebrows pulled together as she saw Mark's seat was empty. She looked back at her friends, shaking her head in confusion. "What... What happened?"

"He was killed last night, walking home after school." Peter shrugged off, "Apparently a mugging gone wrong."

Her eyebrows were pulled together as she looked between the three, before Peter suddenly said. "M."

Nick looked to him, before looking down at the paper in front of her, and she didn't even move the pen before an M suddenly appeared in the last open spot. Her stomach dropped, and she was staring at the page that spelt out 'Murderer'.
