Nick had spent about an hour going through her closet of clothes, having butterflies in her stomach as she thought about the fact that Jack was coming with them to the race event. She had already brought it up to Tony and Pepper, Tony agreeing so that he could meet the boy (and Pepper had to warn him to be nice) and Pepper was excited. The woman had already done the girl's hair, pulling it up into a cute ponytail that she straightened (since Nick's hair was naturally curly) before she did neat curls at the tip of the ponytail.

And after a while (and finally calling Pepper back into her room) she was finally putting on a nice white-orange floral dress and a jean jacket. She didn't wear her glasses, and after putting on white ankle socks, she then put on a pair of plain white converse that she hadn't worn yet.

Then after a trip to the bathroom to make sure she looked okay, the girl exited and twirled for Pepper, the woman sitting on the bed and smiling. "Do I look okay?"

"You look beautiful." Pepper grinned, before gesturing her over, and Nick listened. The strawberry blonde woman adjusted the golden sun necklace, fixing the chain and making sure that the charm didn't get hidden. "There, now you're perfect." But then Pepper finally asked, "You've never taken this off. Where'd you get it?"

Nick's smile fell as she looked down, her hand immediately going to the golden charm, and instead of answering the painful question, she shrugged. "I've just... always had it."

Pepper looked up at her, understanding that she didn't want to talk about it, and the woman smiled again and stood up, holding out a hand. "Come on, let's go show Tony."

The little girl smiled brightly as she took her hand, the girls heading out of the room.

After picking up the 11-year-old boy from his apartment building, they all then went to the private airstrip. Jack and Nick mostly just listened to music and talked the entire time. The butterflies never left Nick's stomach and neither did the smile leave her face, especially not when they finally got to Monaco for the Grand Prix.

Nick and Jack held hands as they exited the nice vehicle, following behind Tony and Pepper, while Happy stayed behind the kids with a red suitcase in his hand, wondering how he had gotten stuck babysitting two kids now.

"You know, it's Europe. Whatever happens the next 20 minutes, just go with it." Nick heard Tony tell Pepper as they walked into the building and into the event that was full of adults, and definitely looked fancier then Nick had assumed. Nick wanted to ask what he was talking about, but she was with Jack, and Pepper had already tried. "Go with it? Go with what?"

"Mr. Stark?" They all looked towards Natalie, who's hair was curled and she was in a skintight bright red dress. Tony went to her, "Hey."

"Hello, how was your flight?" Natalie asked with the smile not leaving her lips, but still looking a bit forced in Nick's opinion, as Tony nodded. "Excellent. Boy, it's nice to see you."
