"Ha ha." Nick teased as she looked up at Peter with a grin. "I win."

The boy just rolled his eyes, but couldn't help a smile.

The two were in class together and since they were table partners, and had already finished up their work, they were playing Tic-Tac-Toe. They then began another round, but were talking about the fact that Nick still hasn't seen any Star Trek movies before - which then caused them to agree to have another movie night sometime soon.

But their lighthearted moment was cut off when the news was playing on the projection in front of the class.

"Eleven Wakandans were among those killed during a confrontation between the Avengers and a group of mercenaries in Lagos, Nigeria last month. The traditionally reclusive Wakandans were on an outreach mission in Lagos when the attack occurred."

Nick could feel her heart in her stomach yet again, especially when King T'Chaka spoke. "Our people's blood was spilled on foreign soil. Not only because of the actions of criminals, but by the indifference of those pledged to stop them. Victory at the expense of the innocent, is no victory at all."

Thankfully the teacher exited out of the news, but that didn't mean the discussion was over, as the entire class seemed to be talking about what had happened last month. Which included Peyton saying something about how all the "freaks" should just be locked up, then she added "as well as the street rats" which Nick took both personally and the two would have actually gotten into an actual physical fight if Mrs. Kings hadn't been there.

By the time class had ended, Nick was picked up by Rhodes at school, which meant that she had to text the group chat that she couldn't make it to them hanging out.

When Nick walked into the Compound, she went straight up to where the bedrooms were - including her's - so that she could drop off her things in that room and change into a hoodie to be more comfortable, before she headed down the hallway while pulling her hair into a bun.

But her steps slowed down when she could hear the News coming from Wanda's room. "They are operating outside and above the International law. Because that's the reality if we don't respond to acts like these. What legal authority does an enhanced individual like Wanda Maximoff have to operate in Nigeria-"

When Nick got there, she saw that Steve had turned off the tv, and was leaning against the doorframe.

The girl walked into the room, stepping closer to the bed as Wanda just shook her head, eyes casted down. "It's my fault."

"That's not true." Steve spoke, but Wanda looks at him. "Turn the tv back on. They're being very specific."

"I should've clocked that bomb-vest long before you had to deal with it." Steve says, walking over and sitting on the bed beside Wanda. "Rumlow said Bucky and all of a sudden I was a 16-year-old kid again in Brooklyn. And people died. It's on me."
