Chapter 23: The Sacrifice

"Thor, I got a plan!" Tony announces through the comms with a grunt, but Nick could practically hear Thor shake his head as he then said. "We're out of time. They're coming for the core."

"Rhodey, get the rest of the people on board that carrier." Tony says, and Nick looked up and over, seeing War Machine flying to help. "On it."

Then Tony flies over the city, "Avengers, time to work for a living."

"Mark, it's time for you to get to safety." Nick ran over to the boy, practically shoving him to a lifeboat, but he shook his head. "Not until you get on."

"I can't yet." She shook her head, so he nodded and moved to help someone else. "Then I'm not going yet."

She almost rolled her eyes at his stubbornness, but then Pietro ran over and picked her up before either of the kids could even do anything, then he ran her to the church. The moment her feet touched the ground again, Nick began throwing light daggers at incoming legions, as more of the team showed up. 

"Are you good?" Pietro ran over when Wanda and Clint walked in, and Wanda nodded, patting his arm. "Yeah."

There were only two more people missing, so Tony spoke up. "Romanoff. You and Banner better not be playing hide the zucchini."

"Relax, shellhead. Not all of us can fly." Natasha's voice came through their comms, and soon enough she had crashed a truck outside before running in. "What's the drill?"

"This is the drill." Tony pointed to the core in the center of the church, that they had all already circled around to block. "If Ultron gets a hand on the core, we lose."

Then Hulk smashed in, and Nick raised a hand to gesture to the vision, out of breath. "By the way... When the hell did Jarvis get a body?"

"Right. You were gone." Tony nods, as though remembering that she hadn't been there. "Uh, that's not Jarvis anymore. Bambi, meet... the vision."

The vision being gave her a brief nod, to which she just returned but was still confused. Shaking it off though, they all turn to look at where Ultron had hovered outside. 

Thor throws his arms out and shouts, "Is that the best you can do?"

Ultron raised a hand, causing a lot of legions to start running to them, making Nick already give a sigh of exhaustion. Steve, also sounding exhausted, gave Thor a look. "You had to ask."

Ultron grins, "This is the best I can do. This is exactly what I wanted. All of you, against all of me. How can you possibly hope to stop me?"

"Well, like the old man said." Tony glanced to Steve, "Together."

Nick couldn't help a small smile as Hulk then let out a loud roar, and the legions began coming in.

As the fighting began, Nick quickly created the ball of light in her hand and collected some of the electricity from her baton, before she then let the ball suddenly turn into a horse - and as the light horse began running around and crashing straight through legions, sending some into the wall or into each other, or trampling them - the girl also then created a dagger in one hand, before concentrating on it even more so that it then turned into a sword.
