Chapter 22: Original Team Back Together

Eventually Pietro dropped Wanda and Nick off at where the Sokovian police were hiding behind a barricade, trying to shoot at the legions. Almost the moment they were in front of the fire, Nick began throwing light daggers at the legions and Wanda began using her powers to crush the legions or tear them apart. While the captain of the police held up a hand to his men, "Hold your fire!"

But as they did, one stray bullet nicked Pietro's arm before he could punch a robot, causing him to stop and turn back, as the officer shakily lowers his weapon. 

After taking out another legion, Nick glanced over and yelled over the noise. "Wanda, you got this?" 

Wanda gave a brief nod, so Nick looked to Pietro who ran over and picked her up, before running her to where Steve was. After letting go of the girl, he ran back to his sister. 

Nick, already having a light dagger in her hand, quickly turned to Steve. "Duck!" As he did, she threw it straight through the head of a legion that had come up from behind him. He stands back up and gives her an exhausted smile, "It's good to see you, kiddo."

"You too, old man." She said with a breathless chuckle, as they continued fighting off the legions. But then Natasha joins them, causing Steve to quickly throw his shield to take out a legion. "Romanoff!"

"Thanks!" Natasha yelled back as she then yanks the shield out of the robot and uses it to block a blast, which then allowed Nick to come up from behind the legion and use a dagger to cut it in half as the red head had to turn around to fight off another one. Then Steve jumped in, taking the shield and slamming it through the legion. 

Finally getting the brief moment of a break, Nick quickly moved and wrapped her arms around Natasha, earning a slight grunt before Natasha couldn't help a smile as she hugged the girl back. Nick pulled back as she looked up, "I'm so sorry that I-"

"Hey. Don't apologize." Natasha gave her a pointed look, "I'm just happy that you're safe."

Nick nodded, before cracking a smile. "At least, as safe as we can be with the city flying."

The three then moved onto getting all the civilians into one building, with Pietro going to get the other civilians hiding in buildings, to head to them. Nick kept an eye out for Mark, but didn't see him yet.

"The next wave is gonna hit any minute." Steve spoke up and as Nick looked over at him, he pressed his earpiece. "What do you got, Stark?"

"Well, nothing great. Maybe a way to blow up the city. That'll keep it from impacting the surface if you guys can get clear." Tony told them, but Nick saw Steve shake his head through the smokey area that they were in. "I asked for a solution, not an escape plan."

"Impact radius is getting bigger every second." Tony states, causing Nick to frown. "We're gonna have to make a choice."

She then moved over to where Natasha was, as the red head looked over at Steve. "Cap, these people are going nowhere. If Stark finds a way to blow this rock-"
