By the time Pepper and Tony had gotten back, it was nearing dinner time. Rhodey left a few minutes earlier, leaving Nick on the couch watching a movie on the laptop. But once he had left, she had quickly went upstairs and back to the bedroom, before sitting on the bed and pulling out the binder.

She stared at it for a bit, before finally opening it. She went through each paper, and by the time she had gotten to the ones in the back that were in a large orange envelope, the girl clenched her jaw. Tony didn't go through it. She doubted he even opened it. Probably just brought it downstairs that night and tossed it into the junk drawer.

Nick didn't leave the room until Pepper came up to get her, telling her that they had brought back pizza.

The three sat at the table again; Nick sitting across from Tony, and Pepper sitting next to the two.  Nick had gotten a slice but didn't touch it, too upset to have an appetite.

Pepper and Tony talked, Nick kept quiet, playing with her fork that was for the salad. She had to bite her tongue as the more she thought about it, the more pissed and upset she got. And it was even worse because of the night before, because she thought that her and Tony had finally connected. Or, at least, she thought they had because of their talk.

But seeing how quiet the 10-year-old was, Pepper tried. "So, Dawn, how was your day?"

"Fine." She shrugged, but didn't say anything else. Pepper glanced towards Tony, who shrugged, causing her to give him a pointed look and nod at the girl, so Tony held back an eyeroll as he looked back to the girl. "You okay there?"

Then he gestured towards the plate of pizza she hadn't touched, but Nick just shrugged, pushing away the small plate of salad and the plate of pizza. "I'm not very hungry. So, you know what, I'm gonna head to bed early."

The girl stood up but before she was able to leave, Tony stopped her, after Pepper gestured for him to do something. "Is everything okay? Did something happen?"

"Nothing happened." She muttered with an eyeroll, but then stopped herself as she turned towards him, for once knowing the answer. "So, um, any progress on those papers?"

"Yeah, I just gotta glance over them again. I think I left them at the office though, so-" He tried to shrug off, but she just scoffed dryly, before glaring at him. "Nice."

Tony stood up confused, "Is something wrong here?"

"I was just wondering, did the lying come naturally, or did you have to perfect it over the years?" Nick glared at him, and this time, Pepper stood up. "What are you talking about?"

Nick just ignored her though, "I bet you didn't even read them yet."

"I did." He said, and honestly, he had. The same night that she had hurt herself and they stayed up, after he had put her to bed and went back to the basement, he had looked over it. But didn't touch the envelope, knowing that those were the papers he had to sign, and the papers in the binder was basically explaining everything.
