"Why are you in such a rush?." I hear Susie saying from my phone as I am running through my house, searching for my damn car keys. I
swear that I last saw them on the coffee table.
"She has to pick up her mom and sister from the airport." Scott explains, since I am too busy making it look like that a tornado has hit my house. Couch cushions are flying through the room, furniture pieces are moved from their original spot as I am laying on my belly, looking underneath it but my keys are no where in sight.
"What time is their flight scheduled to land?."
"At 1.30 pm." I scream as I run by my iMac, where my two managers follow me with their eyes trashing up my house.
"But... that is in two hours." Susie asks confused. Bro, do you know LA? Two hours to get to the airport seem extremely in Holland yeah, but a two hours drive is nothing for LA, especially with the horrible traffic jams all over the city.
"It's LA." I shrugs my shoulders as I stand in front of the camera, completely out of breath, looking around the room for my keys.
"Your mother is going to freak out is she sees the mess your place is." Susie and my mom have a strange relationship. I never really know if they like each other or not. Of course, my mom isn't the easiest. I remember when Susie had approached me about she wanting to become my manager. I am not exaggerating when I say that my mom almost made Susie do a lie detector test to see if she was sincere with me. Ever since then, they act weirdly around each other. I cannot blame Susie though. If some crazy bear mom would accuse me of not having the right intentions, I don't know if I would like her that much either. You guys know how my mom is. She has the best intentions of course and she tries to protect me but she also has to remember that I am 23 year old grown up. I am not as naive as she thinks I am. The strange thing is, is that Scott didn't got a dose of crazy mother over him. When I first introduced him to her, I had prepared him for what there was to come but when they finally met, my mom was the sweetest. Sometimes that woman gives me whiplashes. I cannot keep up with her.
Susie does have a point about my mom going to freak out when she sees my place torn up side down but if I am going to be too late picking them up, she will throw a fit as well. So, I have two choices; 1. Find my keys, clean up this house but be way too late to pick them up or 2. Find my keys, not clean up my house, be on time to pick them up but get a plaint as we get home. Whatever I choose, I am not going to win this one.
"Yes, she will but if I don't find my keys, she isn't going to find out." Doesn't sound so bad.
"Did you check your gym bag?."
"I opened my front door with my keys. They should lie somewhere." But where? That is the multimillion dollar question.
"Just look in your bag. They are clearly not in your living room!."
"I think you looked at every spot possible." Susie adds with a mocking tone in her voice.
"Fine." Two against one. That is not fair. Why did I thought that it was a good idea to not take one but two managers?
I climb over the mess in my living room, that has turned into an obstacle course and walk to my bedroom, into my walk in closet, where I have dropped my gym bag this morning. I swear, if my keys are in the bag, I have a serious problem. 1. Because then I have to admit that Scott is right and will keep reminding me about it for weeks and 2, then there is something wrong with my brain. I seriously cannot remember that I have put them back into my bag.
I open the bag and immediately see the shiny silver of my keys. Fuck. I rather have that I didn't had found them, then say to Scott that he was right.
