"So, you don't know where he went?." Aaliyah says while she stuff some chips into her mouth.

It is Christmas. We all have gathered in Shawn's parents house. Aaliyah picked me up from Shawn's apartment in Toronto earlier because Shawn had to go somewhere out of the blue. All he said before he jumped out of bed this morning was that he needed to do something with Brian. Before I could ask what he meant, he was gone.

I do not want to be the obsessed girlfriend and call him until he pick up but it is already past 2 in the afternoon and I am starting to worry.

I shake my head. "All I know is that he went out to go somewhere with Brian."

Aaliyah do not seem a bit bothered by her brother's mysterious absence as she continue to stare at the tv that plays a weire Canadian movie. "Then he should be fine."

I wish that I could think like her. "When is your boyfriend going to show up?." She has been dating the same guy for 2 years now but I never got the chance to actually meet him. When she really started seeing him, Shawn and I already had broken up.

"He will be here around 3, I think." She says absent, obviously not really interested in having a conversation with me as she keeps staring at the television.

I nod my head and turn my attention to the movie that is playing as well. From time to time, a low chuckle leaves her mouth, clearly finding it hilarious. Me on the other hand, I have no idea what it is about. I wonder where Shawn is and why he hasn't contacted me yet. He left in a hurry this morning. I barely had the chance to at least give him a kiss. I mean, he could send me a text right? to let me know that he is still alive. That would be nice to know.

After stare at the movie for another 10 minutes and still not getting what the story is about, my patience is gone. If I am going to sit here any longer, I might going to drive myself crazy.

Think, Rose. What can you do to prevent yourself from going crazy? Cooking. Yes!

"I am going to see if your mother needs help in the kitchen." Cooking will stop my thoughts from racing. Give me a knife and a stove and I can entertain myself for the whole day.

Other then a soft mutter, there is no response. It is almost fascinating how much Shawn and Aaliyah are alike. Shawn also cannot focus on anything else when he is watching something. I thought it was a guy thing but apparently, it runs in the family.

The house is rather quiet but it wouldn't be long before people will be running around here. My family plus Shawn's family is like having a house full of Italians. It is bound to turn out in a disaster. But hey... let's see how it goes. If it runs smoothly, I maybe will consider hosting Christmas next year. I said; maybe.

I find Karen in the kitchen, running back and forward between the stove and the oven. "Do you need help?." I smile as I find this whole scene rather amusing.

"Oo, Rose."- she spins around at the sound of my voice. "That would be lovely, dear."

I nod my head and grab the apron, that hopefully prevent my clothes of becoming dirty again. I didn't bring an extra set of clothes so, if I spill something on my clothes, I am basically fucked. A stain on your clothes as you take a Christmas picture isn't idealistic. But I have to admit, it would be typical for me.

"If you want wine, the bottle is standing over there." Karen is one of those woman who cook with a glass of wine in her other hand. It's not really my style. Simply because if I would do so every time I cook something, I would be an alcoholic by now but because it is Christmas, I will join her for a glass. Maybe two.

I open a cupboard and grab a wineglass. I feel so at home here and I am so welcome, that it is not even weird if I grab my own drinks or grab some food out of the fridge if I am hungry. Just like you would do at your own parents house.
