"O my God..." I can barely hold back my excitement as I stare at the little ball of fur. The puppy looks up at me with a wagging tail and a little red bow around its neck.
"Hello baby." I lift the puppy up out of the box. A wave of 'awe's' echoes through the living as I hold the puppy close to me.
I wanted a puppy for so long and now I finally have one. "What is his or her name?."
"She doesn't have a name yet." I look from the puppy to Shawn and back to the puppy. My puppy.
"Hi baby Lou."- I kiss the top of her head. "I have been waiting for you." I have had this name ready for years. I always wanted to name my dog Lou. I chose that name probably when I was 8 or 9 years old. I desperately wanted a dog when I was growing up. That obviously didn't happen because of the hours my parents work but I made a deal with myself that if I ever would get a dog, I would call it Lou. Regardless if it was a boy or a girl. So, yeah. Long story short; the puppy's name is Lou.
"Hello Lou. Welcome to our family." Shawn gives her a pet on her head, earning a lick from her.
"I still cannot believe that she is here." It's around 1 am. The Christmas party ended hours ago and we are now back at Shawn's apartment in Toronto, laying in bed as we are both staring at the little fluff ball as she is laying knocked out on her dog bed. Everyone wanted to cuddle with her and after her last walk, we took about 30 minutes ago, she was out. My poor baby was so tired. She felt asleep in Shawn's arms in the way up the elevator. "That was what you were doing all day?." I turn my head on my pillow to look at Shawn. He is laying on his side, staring at me.
He nod his head. "I had to make sure that she had all the right vaccines and documents for her to be able to come back with us back to the States. I was so excited that if I would have answered the phone, you would have known that something was going on and I really wanted to surprise you." He reach out for my cheek and softly caress the skin.
"You sure did. I never expected this in a million years."
"You once told me that you wanted a dog."
"You remember that?." I mentioned that to him about 2 years ago very briefly.
"Of course. You said that you either wanted a Yorkshire Terrier or a Pomeranian. You even threatened me to be banned to the shed when I told you I was allergic to dogs."
That I remember. I nod my head. "That sounds like something I would say, yes."
"So, I was thinking about what I should give you for Christmas and I know that you do not value cars and other expensive things as much as others and I had loved it to go on another vacation with you but unfortunately, Andrew nor Scott allowed me to book one because of our work schedules for the coming months and then this popped into my mind. Along with Brian, we visited many dog breeders because I really wanted to make sure that I wasn't contributing to the bad breeding industry you read about online and that is how we came across Lou. She immediately caught my eye. So, a couple of days ago I picked her up and she has been with Brian ever since."
"And now she has us."
"She couldn't had get a warmer home than ours."
"You mean, my home. Or are we going to pendel her between our houses constantly?."
"I am sure that you are going to bring her wherever you go. So, I am sure that she will need a bed and toys at my house as well."- he has a point. No way I will leave my baby anywhere. She is staying with her mommy. "Or we could just make our houses as one house..."
"Yes, that is true. I am not going to leave..."- hold up. Did I heard him right? "What? What did you say?." Does he mean... moving in together?
"I have been thinking about this a lot lately and I just cannot find of a reason why we shouldn't do it."
