Something old, something new, something barrowed and something blue

"Rose bear, wake up. It is your wedding day."

My eyes flutter open after an amazing night sleep. My eyes find all the girls I have invited, including our mothers and grandmothers, gathered in my bedroom.

I lift myself up and rest against the headrest of the bed and smile as I rub in my eyes, to make me wake up a bit.

"Good morning everyone." I chuckle as I still feel a bit sleep drunk. I always have to have a couple of minutes to myself, when I wake up, before I can properly function again.

"Today is the big day!." Aaliyah and Lily say at the same time.

I slowly nod my head and smile.

"Breakfast is ready downstairs." I find Karen in between the group, in the back with a warm smile on her face.

"That sounds good." I could use some food. This baby makes me hungry all the time or nauseous. It is either one of those two.

"Let's give her a minute to wake up." My mom knows me. I have never really been a morning person. Okay, I am not too bad but I need, like I said, a couple of minutes of peace and quiet to properly wake up, before I can start my day.

Everyone leaves my bedroom except for my mom and my grandma.

What are they up to?

"How did you sleep baby?." My mom says as she sits down at the side of the bed and takes my hand in hers.

"Really good actually." I had suspected that I would have laid wide awake all night, because of nerves, excitement whatever but I feel ready. Ready to become Mrs. Mendes.

"Yeah? Excited?."

I slowly nod my head as I stare at the warm face of my mother. She seems so happy and proud. Even though, we do not always see eye to eye with each other, she will always be my mom, and I will always be her first born. Seeing your child get married is also a big deal for parents.

"I just called your dad and he said that Shawn has been a nervous wreck all morning." She says with a wide smile. "Your dad too, if you asks me."

"I hope that Shawn doesn't faint or worse, run away." I joke, but somewhere in my mind the thought of him running away scare the living hell out of me. I wouldn't be the first bride who got ditched at the altar.

"No way. That boy loves you too pieces. It's normal to have nerves at your wedding day."

"Yeah, you should have seen your mother when it was her wedding day."- my grandma jumps in the conversation and sits down on the bed as well. "You thrown up, what? 4 times that day?."

"6 times but that was also because I was pregnant with Rose already."- my mom answers my grandma before looking back at me. "Only my pregnancy with you I was nauseous all the time. With Lily it wasn't so bad."

"The same goes for this kid."- I point to my covered with duvet baby bump. "But today it is not so bad."

My mom looks from my face to rounding of the duvet because of my belly. "I cannot wait for me to meet him."

"Him?."

She nods her head.

"How do you know?." It is way too early to find out if I am carrying a boy or a girl.
