Friendship to Love (Life is strange fanfiction)

Who Did it?

 Mark Jefferson woke up at 7 am and started to get ready for work, he got dressed, made coffee, ate breakfast, brushed his teeth and headed on his way to work. Before he walked into the school he checked over his schedule, he had had Kate and Rachel yesterday meaning he didn't have them again until Friday.

If Mark Jefferson wanted to see more of Rachel over the summer he had to act fast, there were only 2 weeks left until summer break. He had tried to get principal Wells to make it mandatory so he could force Rachel to go, but that didn't work. He had easily convinced Kate to do it since she was so desperate for any extra credit, or any chance to raise her grade.

Mark Jefferson knew he needed someone on the inside, a student who would help him with what he needed. When he saw Nathan he knew Nathan would be perfect for the job, Nathan was the kind of kid who got what he wanted. Mark Jefferson was smart, he knew he needed to try to gain his students' trust first, otherwise, he would have done what he needed to do with Kate. He also needed to spread it out so he wouldn't be suspected.

One day he pulled Nathan aside and said: "Nathan I want to make a deal with you, I need you to do a few things for me, I don't need anything yet, but when I need you I'll let you know. Here's what's in it for you, all A+'s for every assignment, I will also email you dad every once in a while to tell him what a great job you are doing. I will start doing this immediately but that means when I need you, you have to do what I say, no matter what.". Hesitantly Nathan agreed and now he had someone on the inside for whenever he needed it. There was also a chance that Nathan's dad would fund the darkroom for him.

Mark Jefferson walked into his classroom, looked at the security camera and immediately knew someone broke into this class. He would have suspected Rachel because she left her phone there but the phone was still there which meant she probably didn't do it. He thought about who else might have been responsible, not Kate because she is terrified of him being mad at her, not Rachel because she would have taken her phone, not Nathan they had a don't ask don't tell relationship, and he had all his other students wrapped around his finger.

Jefferson started to look through everything in the classroom, the weird thing was that nothing was stolen. His drawer was still locked, the room looked untouched, and the only thing was the security camera being unplugged. He had definitely left that plugged in last night. When he looked at the security footage it was all normal, but nobody knew he had access to this footage, so how would they know to go to his computer to delete it.

Jefferson walked into principal Well's office, "Mark how can I help you?"

"Someone broke into my classroom."

"What?"

"Ya, the security camera was unplugged, and I haven't ever touched that camera."

"I'm coming to check it out, was anything stolen?"

"No, that's the weird thing nothing was stolen, even with all the expensive technology in there."

"That is weird."

After principal Wells finished inspecting the classroom and the security camera he said: "We must alert all the staff, I think we should hold this information from the students and parents, I don't want Blackwell to look bad."

"Of course."

Jefferson knew that someone broke into his classroom and they didn't do it to unplug the security camera, he knew if it were someone outside of the school they would have taken things, they would have taken his computer, Rachel's phone, and other things. He knew it was either a student or staff, he hadn't really talked to any of the staff much, and gave none of them a reason to suspect anything. This meant that it must have been a student. Jefferson went over his list of students, again and again, every single time he couldn't think of anyone who would want to break into his classroom.

He knew that someone came into his classroom to look through his things, he decided he would just make all of his students suspects. That's when Rachel knocked on his classroom door, "Mr.Jefferson, I forgot my phone in this class yesterday, can I grab it really quickly.". He took a close look at Rachel, she didn't seem guilty at all, but Rachel knew how to lie. "Rachel, did you know that someone broke in here last night?"

"No I didn't, was anything taken." Rachel said not missing a beat.

"No nothing was taken, but someone looked through all my stuff, I think they were looking for information."

"Oh no, that's not good, who do you think it was?" Rachel said once again not missing a beat and no guilt on her face. Mr.Jefferson decided it wasn't her. "Just go and grab your phone." Rachel grabbed her phone and left.

Later that day Jefferson went up to Kate, "Hey Kate I wanted to talk to you."

"Sure, what is it Mr.Jefferson?"

"Someone broke into my classroom last night, they were really smart, they covered their tracks really well."

"Oh no that's terrible."

"Kate you're a pretty smart girl."

"It wasn't me I swear, I didn't do it," Kate said, sounding terrified. Mr.Jefferson wasn't sure what to make of this since Kate was usually scared when he yelled at her. He decided it wasn't Kate, she wouldn't do something like that.

That left one main suspect, Nathan. When Jefferson saw Nathan walking through the halls he said: "Nathan, I'll tell you anything you want to know."

"What?"

"Don't play dumb, you know exactly what I'm talking about."

"I really don't."

"Someone broke into my classroom last night, they were looking for information."

"It wasn't me, why would I want information from you, I told you I would help you and you have been giving me A's on everything, why would I break into your classroom?". Nathan gave a good point. Jefferson knew Nathan was smart, and wouldn't do something like that for no reason. The only thing was it definitely wasn't any of his other students because he had them wrapped around his finger, and he knew it had to be a student because if it was someone else they would have taken something. If it wasn't Rachel, Kate or Nathan then who was it?
