From the time they've met Zhu Li, Team Avatar has known her as Varrick's trusted secretary. She hardly showed any emotion even in the face of danger. It's why they found it so strange when they were hearing the giggles coming from her as she talked to a woman they've never met.
"You're all seeing and hearing this, right? Zhu li is actually blushing and giggling because of that woman. I thought Zhu Li and Varrick had a thing. What's going on?"
Bolin mumbled to the rest of the team. Varrick had hosted a banquet to raise money for those that needed financial help after what happened to Republic City.
"What are we all staring?"
Varrick asks out of nowhere, startling the entire team. Asami is the first to recover.
"We thought you and Zhu Li had a thing. Who is that woman that Zhu Li is with."
"Zhu Li and I do have a thing! She's my assistant and nothing else. She's just the only one that is able to understand when I say 'do the thing.' Just ask Bolin, he had no clue what I was telling him to do when I told him 'to do the thing.'
They all turn to look at Bolin, begrudgingly agree. Varrick had agreed to keep it a secret.
"Okay, but that doesn't explain who the woman is."
Korra adds.
"Well that's Zhu Li's wife! (y/n), you all know her."
"...no. This is the first time we've known of her. We just told you that we all thought you and Zhu Li had a thing."
Mako tells him, annoyed that Varrick hadn't been listening to them.
"Oh well. Now you know that she's married so don't go try hitting on her. I would not recommend it. Lesson learned. Trust me, you don't want to piss of the wife." They all figured it wasn't a good idea to ask him what had happened. "Alright! I have to go. Enjoy yourselves."

Team Avatar had been unable to stop looking at the two of you. Both of you were just so unbelievably cute.
It had been clear to everyone that Zhu Li wasn't the best dancer. In fact, it was like she had two left feet but that didn't stop you from asking her out to dance with you. You took her to a private corner and kept the pace slow for her until you saw her be more comfortable with her moves.
When the two of you thought everyone was busy with paying attention to Varrick's speech, both of you fed each other the several flavors of cakes that Varrick had set out for the guests. When either one of you saw that the other liked a particular flavor, you simply just slid the cake to the other so she could finish it.
One thing that came as a surprise to the team was the fact that Zhu Li seemed to like pranks. Or seemed to enjoy doing pranks with you. They all saw how the two of you managed to scheme in a matter of minutes and prank almost everyone in the table that the two of you were sitting. When they all left to clean themselves up, both of you quietly laughed to avoid being a suspect of the fact that the tabletop had been stripped off the table and all the drinks had spilled. They all deserved it for coming to the banquet and not bothering to even donate enough to cover for the food they had eaten.
The night's coming close to the end and both of you were exhausted. More so, Zhu Li as she had insisted on wearing a pair of heels that were uncomfortable when worn for too long. Considering that you had worn some comfortable shoes, you changed with her, not wanting for her to be uncomfortable. You smiled when you saw the relief in her eyes. Zhu Li, would've never asked to trade shoes with you.

Both of you are waiting for your Satomobile when Team Avatar meets up with the two of you. Zhu Li greets them with a small smile as she you to the team. You greet them all with a smile. While you're talking with them, you notice Zhu Li attempt to hide her shiver. You can't help but smile in amusement, remembering that you had told her to bring a coat. Not wanting to be an ass about it, you took off your coat and place it over her shoulders. In thanks, Zhu Li places a kiss against your cheek.
"Well it was lovely to meet you but our ride is here."
The two of you bid your goodbyes to them and head home.
