"ARE YOU A FUCKING ID...." Azula stopped talking the moment she saw the guard's lip tremble. She wasn't a stranger to making people cry so she knew all the signs that meant they were doing everything they could to not cry. Hating how much you influenced her to start to care for others, she took a deep breath to calm herself down. The breathing techniques that you showed her helped deal with the anger that incompetent people caused. "This is your first and final warning. Do not make another mistake like that or you're not going to like what I'll do if it happens again. Do you understand?"
The guard couldn't believe what just happened. He had heard from the others that Azula was changing but he thought they were just rumors. It was hard to believe that this was the same Fire Lord that used to hurt people when they didn't do as she asked.
"I understand Fire lord Azula. It won't happen again. Please forgive me for my mistakes."
Azula sighs and nods. She couldn't help but admit that you were right. Being kind to her people would often get better results than when she threatened them.
"You're dismissed."
He bows one last time and hurries out the door. He was the last person she needed to see for the day so she was officially done. It was quite late already but Azula knew you would still be working. You wouldn't go to bed until Azula was in your arms. The memory of you telling her about it still made her smile. It had been the entire reason why the two of you even started to date. Azula would always work late into the night and would always find you working on something that could've waited until the morning. It happened far too much and Azula worried about your lack of sleep so she asked you about it in hopes she could do something so you could get some more sleep. It took you a while to admit it but you eventually did after she threatened to have the guards drag you to your room. Once you revealed your reasoning, Azula asked you out that very same moment. Since then, Azula cut back her hours but there were often times that she just couldn't help but work late.
She gets to your office to find the room locked. Knocking several times and calling for you, you still don't answer the door. Using her spare key, she opens the door to find the room empty. The sight was unusual and it made her worry. Searching along the rooms that you frequented, you're nowhere in sight. Before she full on panics, she bumps into one of the night guards and asks about your whereabouts. Azula felt like an idiot for not thinking about asking her guards for your location considering that she had ordered them to keep watch over you. Thanking him, she rushed to her room.
The sight she's greeted with when she opens the door brings a smile to her face. It was quite obvious that you had fallen asleep while waiting for her as you still had some reports in your lap. Wanting to get you comfortable, Azula removes all your paperwork and sets it to the side. She grabs a pair of your pajamas and starts to change you when you wake up from the movement.
"Zula?"
"It's me, darling. I'm just helping you change into some pajamas. Can you help me out a little?"
You just nod and undress yourself as best as you could to put them on. Azula has to bite her lip to stifle her laugh when you get caught in your shirt and nearly trip with your pants. Finally undressed, Azula helps you put on your pajamas.
"Where are you going?"
You had expected for Azula to join you but she moved away from the bed as you got comfortable back on the bed.
"I'm just going to change real quick. I'll be right there, okay?"
"kay."
Azula hurries to change but isn't quite fast enough to still catch you awake when she finally heads to bed. In the few minutes that she had taken to change, you had already fallen asleep. Azula can't help but smile when she lays down beside you and you scoot closer to her. Wrapping her arms around you, she pulls you a little closer to her. Exhausted from the day, Azula is quick to fall asleep as well.
