It broke your heart when you learned everything that Kuvira had done to the Earth Kingdom. You knew she clearly loved her nation but her childhood trauma's led her to make terrible choices. You did everything you could to stop her but it wasn't enough, Kuvira pushed through with her plans that eventually led for the destruction of the entire of Republic City. You weren't surprised when she had been arrested for her actions.
"She's been asking about you, (y/n)."
"I can't go visit her, Korra. It's just too soon. The last time I saw her, she threatened my life. I..I don't know if I can forgive her for what she did."
Korra sighs and takes a seat besides you at the back of the court. You had arrived after Kuvira had been walked in so she hadn't noticed you were there.
"I know what Kuvira did was horrible. She had the Earth Kingdom's best interest but she went about it the wrong way."
"I just don't know. Lets see what the jury has to say about her actions."

Kuvira hadn't even bothered to defend herself at the trial. She just answered everything that was asked of her with no other details. From where you were sitting, you could tell that this was going to negatively affect Kuvira. With the way she was acting, they weren't going to be lenient with her. Not wanting to see the love of your life rot in jail, you interrupted the trial.
"If I may, I'd like to accept's the offer that was given to me by Kuvira's representative."
The man jumps at this new opportunity. He had been losing hope of winning this case but you changed things.
"What offer is she talking about representative?"
"Your honor, I asked for her to give accounts of her time that she had spent under Kuvira's reign. She was Kuvira's second in command before the attack on Republic City happened."
The judge looks at you and the at the man before nodding her head.
"Very well. You may take the stand."
The man hurries you up to take a seat and begins asking you all kinds of questions. You answer truthfully, all the while keeping your arms off of Kuvira. You knew she was staring at you, trying to understand what was going on and what you were doing. After everything that she had done, she didn't deserve your help.

"How does the jury find the defendant?"
The foreman stands and begins reading off the charges and their decisions. As he continues reading, your heart starts beating faster, hoping that all her charges were eventually dropped. Most of them were but not the major.
"We find her guilty for the destruction of Republic City."
The judge thanks them and announces Kuvira's punishment for what she had been found guilty of.
"Forgive me, your honor but if I may. I have the solution to make sure that Kuvira pays for her crimes to Republic City."
"You have the floor, (y/n)."

Surprisingly the judge agreed to your plan, Kuvira was released under your care with the warning that if either of you didn't keep to your promise, both of you would be sent to prison for life.
"Why did you do it?"
"When someone does something nice for you, you thank them."
You tell her while continuing to make your way to your satomobile. Kuvira walks faster, stopping in front of you to block your way.
"I..I threatened your life and disregarded everything that you told me."
"Because when you love someone, you tend to do stupid things, Kuvira."
"(y/n), I...."
You push past her and climb inside the car. Kuvira takes a moment before joining you.

"This is where you'll be staying. My room is down the hall and my office is on the other side of it. I'm always in my office and if I'm not, then I'm probably in my bedroom. If you need anything, let me know. We'll start tomorrow."
You turned to walk to your office and make your way out when Kuvira stopped you.
"Wait."
You turn around to face her, gulping loudly as you watched her make her way to you. It brings back memories to when she threatened your life and you start to shake in fear. Kuvira stops halfway when she sees your reaction. She had done this. There was no one to blame but herself for the way you were reacting.
She falls to her knees while lowering her head to look at the ground.
"Kuvira, stand up. The floor is filthy."
You could see her shoulders start to shake, letting you know that she was holding in her sobs.
"I'm so sorry, (y/n). Please forgive me for everything. I never meant to hurt you. I never meant for any it."
You make her way over to her, leaning down to her raise her head to look at you.
"I can't say that I forgive you but I can tell you that it's possible you might earn it back. Just don't mess up your second chance, Kuvira. I know it's hard for you to believe that I still love you after what happened but I still do. Now rest up, the two of us had a long day."
You wipe her tears away and help her stand. You bid her goodnight and make your way to your room. For the first time in weeks, the two of you were able to get a decent rest.
