"Back off, Katara. I don't need you to mother me. Mine is dead!"
You yanked your arm off her grip and pushed Sokka and Aang out of your way to head back into town. Sokka and Aang moved in to comfort Katara. Katara had tried to hold in her tears in front of her friend and brother but they just fell. You were like a little sister to her, your words hurt.
"Don't worry, Katara. That's not out, (y/n). We'll wait until Toph gets back so we can talk about getting to the bottom of this."
Sokka tells her as he hugs his sister tighter. His first thought had been to kick your ass but he knew that Toph would've kicked his and Katara wouldn't have approved of his method. Aang just wanted to fix whatever was happening to bring back the peace.

You cried out in pain as your back was slammed against the wall. As she gets closer to kiss you, you turn your head to the side so she ends up kissing your cheek. You came to regret your actions when she gripped your cheeks tightly and turned you around to kiss you forcefully. Your attempts to get away were futile and it just pushed you further into your mind. All you could think about was Toph and what she would say if she saw how weak you were.
"I'm the only one who could love you, (y/n). That noble girl will never be able to handle you. She can't take of you like I do. Leave her. If you don't then I might just pay your little camp a visit and take care of her myself. She's blind, isn't she?"
"Leave her alone!"
She smirks, amused at your attempt to appear strong. She knew you were just faking it.
"You can't fool me. You're weak. The only thing you can do to keep her safe is break up with her and come back to me."
Wanting to make sure that you do come back, she wraps her hand around your throat and starts choking you. It's not until you nearly pass out when she lets you go.
"Enjoy your last few hours. I expect for you to come before night falls."
With a slap, she lets go of you and disappears into the crowd. It takes you a few minutes to ground yourself again. When you do, you slide down the wall and rest your head on your knees as you cry.

It's eerily somber when Toph arrives back to the camp. Sokka and Aang are quietly talking besides Appa and Katara is looking at the water in the river.
"What did I miss? Where is (y/n)?"
The three of them turn around to face her, their worst fears being confirmed. You were gone.
"Toph, we don't know how to say this...."
Sokka starts off.
"What? Spill it out."
"(y/n) just practically insulted the three of us and then stormed off from the camp. Aang and I, tried to search for her but we couldn't find her."
"What?! Why didn't you go get me?"
Toph takes a few calming breaths that you would make her do whenever she would get furious. This time, it didn't work.
"Where did she go? What even happened? (y/n) would rather die than say a single bad thing about any of you."
"I know. We know. We were surprised when it happened. We don't know what's going on."
"I'll get to the bottom of this. The three of you are welcome to join me."
The three of them don't hesitate to join Toph to help find you.

"I found her!"
You raise your head find Sokka and rest run up the alley that you were hiding in. Not wanting for them to worry about you, you quickly wiped away your tears and attempted to be angry.
"What the hell are you doing here? I left for a reason!"
"(y/n), what is going on? You're not like this."
"Did either of you stop to think that maybe I was just playing along? I couldn't exactly be my true self around anyone. This is how I really am."
Toph wasn't stupid. She could feel your heart racing, letting her know what is going. Tired of being lied to, she pushed through her friends to get to the front. You let out a quiet when you saw her but quickly recover and go back to your angry self.
"I'm so glad you're here. Saves me the trouble of searching for you to break up. We're over."
"No, we're not. Stop being stupid. What is going on?"
"I'm not lying, Toph. It's pathetic for you to hold on to us. I never loved you."
Toph could feel her tears rapidly form at your words.
"Enough! I'm giving you one last chance (y/n). You either tell us what is going on or we leave. You'll never see us again and I will never forgive you for this."
You had counted on the fact that you would later find a way to deal with your ex and get back to Toph but Toph's ultimatum was not going to allow you to do so. Unsure of what to do, you fall to the ground and cry. Toph rushes to your side, comforting you as you cried.
When you finally calm down, you tell them everything. Not skipping a single detail of what happened. The 4 of them were practically out for blood when they heard what your ex had done.
"It's going to be okay, (y/n). You have us and we'll keep you safe."

Your ex had expected to find you in the empty alley, she wasn't expecting for your friends and Toph to be waiting for her. This hadn't been part of her plan. It had counted on the fact that you wouldn't tell anyone after she had threatened your girlfriend.
"I'm going to make you pay for thinking you could hurt MY girlfriend like that."
You ex never stood a chance against Toph, much less the Avatar, Sokka and Katara.

You wake up from your sleep to Toph sliding into the sleeping bag that the two of you shared.
"Where di.."
"Shh. I took care of our little problem. She won't be a problem anymore. Go back to sleep."
You cuddled closer to her.
"Love you."
You mumbled into her chest. Toph smiled as she protectively wrapped her arms around you.
"I love you too."
