You're currently helping one of the newest air benders with their exercises when from the corner of your eye, you spot Jinora glaring at you. It catches you by surprise but you don't acknowledge it. Tenzin had trusted you to run the class and you weren't going to mess up the one responsibility that he trusted you with.
It's not for another hour that the class finishes when you catch up to Jinora.
"Hey, what did you think of the class? Think he'll be impressed to let me run another one."
"I think you could've done a little better. You were going to soft on them. They won't be able to handle their bending if you continue to teach them like that."
You had expected for her to criticize you a couple of things but not plain out insult how you thought.
"Did I do something Jinora? Because I couldn't help but notice that you had been glaring at me while I was teaching the class."
Jinora crosses her arms and looks down to glare at you.
"I just don't think that you're ready to teach the air benders. You still have to train some more before you can teach anyone else."
What she said hurt. Jinora had never once criticized you or insulted the fact that you hadn't completely mastered your air bending. She was patient when Tenzin thought you new things and you asked her to help you. But this....this was another side of her.
"You're being really rude, Jinora. If I did something to bother you then just tell me. There's no need to insult me."
She scoffs and turns to start walking back to the dorms.
"It's not insulting when I'm just stating facts."
Having enough of her attitude, you exploded.
"You know what?! Not once have I ever spoken to you like that. I don't know what's going on Jinora and I don't like it. This is not you. Come find me when you snap out of whatever you're in. I can't even talk to you like this."
Jinora's facade started to crumble when she noticed the tears in your eyes that were threatening to come out.
"(y/n), wait. I'm sorry."
You didn't stop to listen to her excuses as you headed out to Republic City.

Jinora knew that she messed up big time. It hadn't been her intention to lash out at you because she was jealous. It was just easier to focus her thoughts on something stupid than think about the fact that you were quite close to some of the new air benders. She knew that she had to fix it and coudln't do so until you returned so she headed to your room and waited for you.
When you arrive back at the island, you find Jinora had fallen asleep in your bed. You can't help but smile but it quickly disappears when you remembered the earlier conversation. With your staff, you poke her awake.
"W..what time is?"
"Late. You should head back to your room."
Jinora sits up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she looks at you.
"Wait, I want to apologize for earlier. I shouldn't have taken my emotions out on you. I was just...jealous."
"Jealous? Of what Jinora? That makes no sense. You insulted and upset me because you were jealous?"
Jinora sighs and nods.
"I've never been good with this. I got jealous because of how close your were getting to the students. I thought you would get tired of me and replace me with one of them."
"Oh Jinora."
You moved to sit beside her, taking her hands in yours.
"Your my best friend. I could never replace you."
Jinora looks at your joined hands and stays quiet.
"...what if I want to be more than best friends?"
"Super best friends?"
You can't help but laugh at your own joke but stop when Jinora doesn't laugh with you.
"What do you mean?"
"I want to be more than friends. I want to be your girlfriend."
Jinora's heart started to race as you let go of her hands. She closed her eyes tightly and waited for the slap but it never came. Instead, you cupped her cheeks and pulled her in for a kiss. Neither of you pull apart until breathing becomes necessary.
"I would love to be your girlfriend but no more of that jealous stuff. No one could ever replace you Jinora."
Jinora smiles happily and lays back down on your bed where you're more than happy to join her. The two of you sigh in comfort as you cuddle close to each other.
