The Jenna Thing

"Why was Jenna there?" Aria asked the girls as they sat around a table at the Grill

"I guess she's back." Lily glowered

"That cop acted like we were suspects or something." Hanna complained

"Do you think we looked guilty?" Emily asked

"Why would we? We haven't done anything wrong." Aria shrugged

"Except lie about the Jenna thing." Hanna said

"We promised we'd never bring up the Jenna thing again, remember? It never happened." Lily snapped

"Have you found a way to forget? I still wake up sometimes in the middle of the night-"

"Aria, it was an accident." Spencer said. Lily reached into her bag and pulled out a flask, pouring its contents into her drink, a man at another table eyed her warily

"It's medicinal." She said rudely but he didn't look away "Cramps!"

"I don't get it." Emily said "How does "A" know something about me that only Alison knew?"

"Ali knew all of our secrets, but...We never knew any of hers." Aria sighed

"I knew them," Lily shrugged

"Go on."

"Talk."

"Guys I went partying with Alison all the time, I saw it all," Lily said

"Why didn't you ever tell?" Hanna asked

"Because she knew things about me too," Lily explained

"She's dead." Hanna snapped and Lily rolled her eyes

"Ali was seeing someone that summer." Lily revealed

"I knew she was keeping something from me! From us." Emily sighed

"Well, why didn't she want us to know?" Aria asked

"He was an older boy, and he had a girlfriend." Lily explained

"Who was it?" Emily asked

"I'm not saying anything," Lily shook her head "Last summer was a dark time for her and I okay? That's why we never spoke about it,"

"How is that Ali told the rest of us nothing, and we told her everything?" Aria asked

"Because she made us feel like we were part of something special." Emily said

"We were."

"I miss that." Aria said

"Me too." Hanna said

"I miss Ali." Emily fiddled with her bracelet

"I can't believe you still wear that." Lily chuckled

"Ali still wears hers. Wore." Emily corrected herself

"You know some part of me that imagined someday Ali would just show up." Spencer said

"Yeah. I used to think that maybe she'd just...Run off with some guy." Lily chuckled

"She was laying on a beach somewhere." Emily said

"Or getting a tan out by the pool with that hot lifeguard." Hanna giggled

"Ohh. Yeah...What was his name?" Emily asked

"Who cares? "Save me!"" Hanna imitated and they all laughed. But their laughter was cut short by the tapping of a cane which meant Jenna had entered, the girls shared a look and they quietly left the Grill
