Free Fall

The last thing Lily wanted was to be back in school now that they knew Ezra was definitely not who he said he was, and that Aria was in danger by continuing to date him, but low and behold here she was being dragged to the bathroom by Hanna and Emily where Spencer would meet them

"Hey." Emily said to the tall girl in there who turned around to face them

But Spencer looked like shit, her hair a tangled mess, wearing a large hoodie, Rosewood PE shorts and slippers "What are you wearing?" 

"It's nothing, I... I had to change." Spencer said, nervous under all their surprised looks "And this is all I had in my gym locker." 

"Did you have an accident?" Lily asked 

"What? No." Spencer said

"Or are you going to? What's up with those shower shoes?" Hanna asked 

"Can you just forget about the outfit, okay." Spencer sighed "We have an emergency situation here."

"Is that why you called me at 4 A.M.?" Emily asked 

"Wait, what?" Hanna scoffed "Okay, I thought that after we saw Aria lip-locking with the devil you went home to calm down and crash." 

"I... I must've just hit dial while I was asleep." Spencer said, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion "Look, okay, I know we said we were going to talk to Aria after school, but I really think we need to tell her about Ezra sooner. Like, now."

"What? Spencer, we can't tell her now." Emily said 

"The longer we wait, the more dangerous it becomes." She argued

"And you think it's any less dangerous to drop a bomb like that while she's going into class?" Hanna asked "We can't do that to her."

"Do what? Protect her? Ezra spoke to me this morning and I could barely maintain eye contact. Meanwhile, for all we know right now, Aria is hooking up with him in some janitor's closet. How does that not make your skin crawl?" Spencer cried 

"It does," said Lily "Look I know you don't want to keep her in the dark but this isn't going to be easy. She's in love with him and she's given up a lot to be with him. I mean it's already going to be difficult enough for her to believe he's even capable of this"

Lily's day passed quickly and then at lunch she was sat in the courtyard with Hanna and Emily, the former of whom was looking around nervously every three seconds

"Are you gonna eat that?" Hanna asked Emily, pointing to her cheese stick 

"Yeah, I told you that like five seconds ago." She replied 

"Just take it." Emily sighed and Hanna snatched it 

"Thank you." She sighed "Sorry. I just get... I just get extra hungry when I'm nervous." 

"I thought it was sad."

"I get sad when I'm nervous." She shrugged "Look, I've been avoiding Aria all day."

"Like I haven't. I finished my Spanish homework in a toilet stall." Emily said 

"Are you sure this a good idea? I mean, what if we tell Aria, Ezra's A and then she hates us?" Hanna asked

"Not our problem," Lily shrugged

"Okay what's going on with you?" Emily asked and Lily was saved from answering by Aria sitting down, which only worsened her mood

"Finally." The short girl sighed "Is there some cellular dead-zone that you can know about in the school?" 

"What do you mean?" Hanna asked
