"God, what a performance."
The 5 girls were standing near the entrance to the courtyard watching Jenna across the open area, the "blind" girl was running her fingers along a brail music sheet in her lap "Can you imagine faking it for so long?"
"What do you think she's planning?" Aria asked
"That's what you have to find out." Lily said to the small brunette, Aria was going to be performing with Jenna in the next assembly so the girls were all relying on her to get close to Jenna and find out the truth "She trusts you. Or at least she wants you to think that she does."
"Great. That..." Aria shook her head "That's awesome."
"Hey, I'll trade you Mona for Jenna." Hanna offered
"No, thanks." Aria grimaced
"I think I felt safer when Mona wasn't talking." Lily nodded in agreement
Jenna stood up from her seat and took out her cane to slowly make her way back into the building "There she goes."
"We should push a table in front of her and see what happens." Hanna suggested and Lily actually wanted to try it to see what would happen
"God, Hanna, you have all the subtlety of a hand grenade." Spencer chuckled
"Thank you." The blonde smiled, oblivious to the underhanded insult thrown her way. Lily did love Hanna but sometimes it was shocking how little Hanna understood
The bell rang to signal the end of their lunch break so the 5 girls started heading back inside to get to class so Emily used their last moments of free time to ask Spencer something that had been on her mind a lot recently "Has your mum said anything to you about taking Garrett's case?"
Lily averted her eyes and sent the girls a wave before heading down the other corridor to get to class, deciding to get a head start to avoid any conversation about Garrett
She still hadn't told anyone that she had been the one to ask Veronica Hastings to defend Garrett and she wasn't planning on telling anyone soon, the less people knew the better, she was already stared at enough for being the dead girl's best friend, she didn't want to also be known as the girl who defending her best friend's "killer"
When Lily arrived in Biology Noel was already in his seat next to hers so she just smiled at him and took her seat
"You alright?" Noel asked her
"Yeah, why?"
"I thought with Spencer's mum defending Ali's killer you'd be more upset," He said
"If Veronica believes he's innocent then I want to hear why," She lied "And if turns out he didn't kill her then I'd rather know he isn't paying for a crime he didn't commit,"
"Fair enough," He chuckled "What are you up to this weekend?"
"Um I don't know, probably going out with Jason,"
"You and him are still going?" Noel looked shocked to hear that and it made Lily chuckle
"Yes we are," Lily closed her eyes when the lesson started, just in time to not see the jealousy that flashed through Noel's eyes
At the end of the day Lily took Teddy on a walk with Caleb who she then dropped off at the coffee shop since he was meeting Hanna there and Jason would be meeting her at her house that night
When Lily walked in with Teddy she found Jason on the phone to someone in the kitchen
"It's me again Veronica! You can't keep ignoring me, it's a small town," He huffed in frustration and ended the call before turning to look at his girlfriend who was watching him
