The school was hosting a memorial for Alison, so of course the 5 girls were in charge of planning and decorating it. So right now they were all at Spencer's house since the fountain they had ordered finally arrived

"I was afraid she wouldn't get it done in time for the memorial." Aria said as she and Spencer pushed the heavy box into the living room

"This was someone from your mum's gallery?" Hanna asked

"Right."

"Where is your mum?" Lily asked

"There's an apartment above the gallery. So she's staying there." Aria explained "For now."

"Kind of weird, isn't it?" Hanna said "Your mom moving out."

"Yeah, like my dad should have left. That's what you'd expect." Aria said rudely

"Aria." Lily snapped

"Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that." Aria apologised "The whole thing just sucks."

"I know."

"Did anyone call Shelly Leonard?" Emily asked

"Done." Spencer answered "I told her that if she plays anything depressing, I will kick in her cello."

"Oh, what about the program?" Aria asked

"Almost done." She said "But we should finish it before Ali's brother gets here." Lily froze, she had completely forgotten that Jason was coming back to town and didn't know how to feel. She hadn't seen him since last summer.

"When is that?"

"Tonight." Spencer said "He wants to see us in the morning."

"God, you know what? I barely remember Jason." Hanna said

"We didn't know him. He was just Ali's older brother down the hall." Maybe to you guys Lily thought

"Behind the closed door. With his hardcore-punk music vibrating the floor boards." Lily smiled to herself as she spoke, trying not to gush over him

"How did he get into an Ivy League school?" Aria asked

"I don't know. It must've been affirmative action for goths and emos." Spencer joked and they took the lid off the box, looking inside to see a beautiful carved fountain

"Wow. It's beautiful." Aria said

"Pedestal's already out there, next to the bench." Spencer said "This goes up Friday morning."

"Do you think Jason will like it?" Emily asked

"Of course he'll like it." Lily said

"You know, years from now, people are gonna see this memorial... ...and that's all they'll ever know about Ali." Aria said "She'll be the girl that they dedicated the bench to. And we'll all be gone, but Ali will still be remembered."

"'That's immortality, my darlings.'" Lily spoke, reciting the infamous words Alison used to say

All 5 girls were in their bikinis tanning by the beach

"I wish we could just choose the age that we wanted to be and just stay there." Aria said

"The only way to do that is to die young, leave a beautiful corpse." Alison explained

"Don't joke." Emily said

"It's not a joke." She shrugged "Oh, come on. Haven't you ever thought how deliciously tragic it'd be... ...to die in some incredibly mysterious way?"
