Breaking the Code

Come Monday morning the other girls were all surprised that Spencer had managed to get them the £2,000 dollars for Lily to give to Jonah

"We're giving him all of it?" Emily asked "$2,000 is a lot of money!" 

"Emily, if he can finally tell me who "A" is, I would hand over a million." Spencer said 

"Yeah, and not ask for change." Lily added 

"How'd you get the money so fast?" Emily asked

Spencer glanced at Lily who shook her head "What? Um... I have a relative." 

"Which one?" Aria asked 

"I promised that I wouldn't say." She lied 

"What time did Jonah say to meet him?" Hanna asked 

"Six, but, um, look, not all of us are gonna go." Lily said "It's just me and Spencer, so we'll meet up with you afterwards." 

"Why just you two?" Aria asked 

"Because I'm the face that he knows, and she's the bank." She shrugged 

"If we crowd him, he's gonna think something's up." Spencer added 

"Something is up." Emily said We're finally gonna find out who's been torturing us since Ali's funeral, and, hello, I kind of wanna be there for that." 

"Volume!" Aria whispered just in time as Mona came over to them

"Hey, ladies!" Mona said

"Hey," They all replied

"Okay. Um, Hanna, can I borrow you for a sec?" She asked and Hanna followed her away from the group down the hallway

Lily reluctantly headed to class that morning

She ate lunch with Mike and then after school she and Spencer drove to the park that Jonah had agreed to meet them at

"What time is it?" Spencer asked in annoyance as they waited on the park bench 

"5:58." Lily yawned. Spencer nodded and looked around 

"Okay, what time is it now?" She asked

"Still 5:58," Lily chuckled and she noticed a man walking around the corner "He's coming." They stood up as Jonah approached them 

"Who's this?" Jonah asked, gesturing to Spencer 

"I'm the money." Spencer explained

"So where is it?" He asked 

"Unh-unh." Spencer crossed her arms "Not until you hand over the info." 

"No way." He said "I've already been burned once. It's not gonna happen again." 

Lily pulled the envelope of money out of Spencer's pocket and handed it over "Here."

He opened it and checked through "You hear from Vivian yet?" He asked "You don't owe me answers..." He handed Lily a slip of paper "But she does." 

"This is it." Lily whispered and opened the paper

"Wait!" Lily shouted before Jonah could get far "There's no name. There's no number. This is just an address. Where's the rest of it?" 

"The text came from a burner phone." he shrugged "I was only able to trace the location." 

"I don't believe this." Spencer scoffed
