"Look over there!" Obi-Wan pointed suddenly. Their gunship had been flying through a wide canyon when the Jedi spotted three shadows on the ground up ahead.

"It's Dooku! Shoot him down!" Anakin yelled.

"We're out of rockets, sir," the pilot said.

"Follow him!" Anakin commanded without skipping a beat.

"We're gonna need some help!" Padmé told him.

"There isn't time! Anakin and I can handle this!" Obi-Wan replied.

Dooku realised he was being watched. Flipping a hand signal, his guards obeyed, arcing around in a wide circle to end up behind the gunship.

Both speeders fired. They missed multiple times, but as the Republican vehicle rose to counter a sand dune, one of the blaster bolts hit home.

An explosion rocked the ship. Padmé and a clone trooper fell out, the former screaming in terror.

"Padmé!" Anakin cried. She rolled down the dune and finally stopped, unmoving.

"Put the ship down!" Obi-Wan's Padawan demanded, crouching on the gunship's edge, his eyes still fixed on his lover.

"Anakin!" Obi-Wan shouted at his apprentice. "Don't let your personal feelings get in the way!" He turned to the pilot. "Follow that speeder!"

The younger Jedi was still looking at Padmé body, growing smaller and smaller as the distance between them increased.

"Lower the ship!" Anakin said again.

"I can't take Dooku alone!" Obi-Wan tried to reason. "I need you! If we catch him, we can end this war right now! We have a job to do!"

"I don't care! Put the ship down!" His Padawan growled.

"You will be expelled from the Jedi Order!"

"I can't leave her!"

"Come to your senses! What do you think Padmé would do were she in your position?"

That got Anakin. He turned away from his master, breathing heavily.

"She would do her duty," he admitted.

"Hmm..." Master Yoda sighed.

The yellow trooper with the binoculars continued surveying the battle.

"The droid army is in full retreat," the clone lowered his device and reported.

"Well done, Commander," the Grandmaster praised. "Bring me a ship."

The trooper did as requested.

Dooku reached his destination: a small doorway in the face of the canyon wall with a small runway extending out. The Sith flew in without looking back. The trio's gunship was not far behind, but the speeders were still firing at them.

Swiftly, the Republican vessel landed to let the Jedi jump out, before quickly lifting off again. It wasn't very lucky, however, as the speeders shot at the vessel and it exploded into flames.

Dooku was commanding a LEP servant droid when Anakin and Obi-Wan charged in, lightsabers ignited. The dark lord turned towards them calmly as the droid scurried up the boarding ramp of a prepped ship ready for takeoff.

"You're gonna pay for all the Jedi that you killed today, Dooku," Anakin growled.

"We'll take him together," Obi-Wan said in contrast to his apprentice. "Go in slowly on the left-"

"I'm taking him now!" Anakin ignored him and charged at Dooku.

"No, Anakin! No! No!" The older Jedi cried hopelessly as his impulsive Padawan ran to fight.

Dooku simply raised a hand. A bolt of pure blue electricity flew from the man's fingertips, zapping the young Jedi over and over. He collapsed in pain, screaming and groaning softly. Dooku's lightning threw Anakin to the wall, where he lay smoking with eyes closed.

Obi-Wan raised his lightsaber defensively, having decided to take a less reckless path.

"As you see, my Jedi powers are far beyond yours," Dooku smiled thinly. "Now...back down." He released a fresh wave of Force Lightning, but Obi-Wan was ready and blocked the electricity with his lightsaber. Dooku, realising the pointlessness of using his Sith power against a ready opponent, stopped.

The younger man inched towards him cautiously.

"I don't think so," the Jedi grunted.

Dooku replied by retrieving his own lightsaber from his robes. Upon igniting his weapon, Dooku's face was bathed in a deep, evil red glow. He moved it out of his face and pointed it diagonally at the ground, assuming his battle position.

Obi-Wan spun his lightsaber and ran at the Sith lord.

The two exchanged blows but each was blocked by the other. Dooku fought casually, as if he was taking a peaceful stroll instead of attacking a Jedi. Obi-Wan on the other hand was already starting to sweat from the heat of the lightsabers and the exertion.

After a brief exchange the two backed away from each other.

"Master Kenobi, you disappoint me," Dooku shook his head mockingly. "Yoda holds you in such high esteem." He suddenly lunged at the Jedi. Obi-Wan barely had time to block the first strike before Dooku released another flurry of blows.

The younger man caught Dooku's final strike and the two had a contest of strength as they pushed their lightsabers against the other's.

"Surely you can do better," Dooku snickered, smiling innocently. The Jedi sent a tide of nimble blows but they were all blocked by the Sith.

From his position sprawled against the wall, Anakin stirred and moaned. He could sense that Padmé was groaning in pain, but alive. One of the clone troopers was running up to her.

"Are you all right?" He asked, crouching next to the senator. Padmé nodded and was standing up.

"We'd better get back to the forward command centre," the clone told her.

"No. No," Padmé shook her head, dusting herself off. "Gather what troops you can. We've got to get to that hangar. Get a transport. Hurry!"

"Right away," the soldier replied.

Anakin collapsed against the wall again, gladthat his beloved was safe.

I'm saying 'beloved' instead of girlfriend/boyfriend cos it just feels weird using those words in the Star Wars universe...
